The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.
Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |

Hmmm. Scrambled the spelling..... directed it at himself (not exactly self deprecating, but...). OK, I pass.

Considering the historical record. If you are a European, an Asian, an African, an Indian, or a South American, and you are a Christian, it is because the Catholics spread the Gospel of the Lord to the whole world. Christ commanded the Apostles to preach the Good News to all nations. Are you saying the Catholic Church did not do that? Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be proclaimed in all the world as a witness to all nations. And then the end shall come.
The end hasn't come yet. Makes you wonder what gospel has been preached...

Maybe there's a pause. Maybe we haven't taught "all" the nations yet.

Thanks for the site...but that is not what I used..:)
Well, the same material is on several, all Apologetics, sites. Now tell me those were your words.

Next you'll check out 24978, Mack's post. It looks like a cut and paste job to me. And since you are an unbiased fellow you will surely take it up with Mack as well. Right?
That's your job if you think it is important.
To: SoothingDave
And everybody thought I would whine when the Steelers lost. Suck it up, man.
Right! You were realistic and took it like a man.
To: OLD REGGIE
That's your job if you think it is important. It's not important to me. I can judge ideas and not worry if the words are original to the poster or not. It seems to be a way for you to trumpet your own, what?, individuality? Bully for you.

Please tell me honestly if you are interested in my response. If not, I won't bother. If you are genuinely interested, I will.
I am interested in your post, if it is based on scripture, but if they simply say it is our tradition, and we do not need scripture to back it up, than please do not respond, since I can not, and will not debate philosophy since there is no way to determin what is right or wrong, since only the word will judge us.John 12:48. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
I'm sure you can understand why I say this. JH

If I ask you to "save" me the last piece of pizza, does it have to be eaten by someone, then extracted from their stomach and reintegrated to make it appear as if never eaten? Or do you "save" it by having it not get eaten in the first place?I believe this is probably one of the weaker arguments ever made.
To: JHavard
John 12:48. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. Very true but not everything He said is in the Bible.
To: Invincibly Ignorant
I believe this is probably one of the weaker arguments ever made. Maybe, but I like the mental picture it evokes.

I believe this is probably one of the weaker arguments ever made. Thank you. Usually the train station analogy doesn't get any response. So this pizza one is doing better already.

I didn't call the Steelers sissys or any such thing.Thems fightin' words. Dirty play is dirty play.
The Steelers weren't sissies. They fought the Patriots lick for lick and just lost the battle. I didn't notice the Steeler receivers curling into a fetal position as soon as they caught the ball. I take back the "sissies" remark. They are sissies and crybabys.

Very true but not everything He said is in the Bible. Very good. It is the unproven assertion of the Bible only Christian that the "Word" is only the Book, and what one makes of that Book at that.

I think you should ask him.
It isn't necessary. Did I copy him on the "TO" line? Why don't you ask him? Are you afraid he knows where you live?
To: SoothingDave
Maybe there's a pause. Maybe we haven't taught "all" the nations yet. This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
This does not mean that while the church is here in the world the end cant come until the gospel of the grace of God is preached worldwide. While it is good to want to get the gospel to the ends of the earth, this is not the verse to use to promote it. You see, it is important to interpret Scripture in its context. Remember that our Lord is answering the question, What is the sign of the end of the age? (see v. 3). He is speaking of that end time.

Very true but not everything He said is in the Bible.
Very true, but if you care to be the one to tell him what he said that he didn't make us privy to, go ahead and do so, but I am a safety man, I'll take my chances on believing only the recorded words that he left us through his apostles, for our instruction and edification.
2 Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: V-17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. (^g^) JH

I had a nightmare once about being in a Catholic church. The Mary statues seemed to want to GET ME. It was terrible.
