Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |
Are you available to teach my sons this rule?
Becky
What part of, "Whatever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven," do you not understand?
Great. The catholic church bound beef for a few years. What a tremendous contribution to Christendom. You should be proud.
What you all call original sin we call sin nature. And Mary most certainly did have it. Saying she didn't is tampering with God's word. The Sin nature is a result of the seperation of Man from the spiritual by God. Man can no longer see the spiritual and is stuck in the physical or 'natural' now. That is the fallen state. Man sees and operates in the carnal only - unless either God or Satan intervenes. Mary had the same nature as the rest of mankind.
Me: You have no idea what you are saying - do you?! Blasphemy. Pure and simple Blasphemy. God CHOSE Mary because she had kept herself free from sin and lived righteously. God didn't break his own laws and transgress Mary's rights or those of the Devil in order to bring Christ into the world.
You:
First you tell God what He can not do (nullify Mary's ability to sin) then you speak of the "rights" of the Devil. Wrong has no rights.
First of all, God made the rules and he goes by them just as we do. If he didn't - he wouldn't be a just God. Argue with that!
Secondly, The Devil does have rights. He has jurisdiction over anyone that is not one of God's Sheep. God has agreed to do things a certain way in Covenant with man. And all three parties have defined rights in that covenant. God deciding that satan didn't have rights to tempt Mary in any fashion would be a violation of the Covenant - breaking the rules. God doesn't break his rules or his promises - that is something that Man and the Devil do. God is Just.
God prepared Mary for her role, but He did not remove her free will. She had no Original Sin, but she was still free to sin personally. Which she did not. Though I am sure that she had God's help in avoiding sin in her life.
Oh, I see. He protected her from the sin nature by not allowing her to have it. Basically just violated his own rules in order to bring Jesus on the scene within the rules. Uhu. Anymore bright ideas? I know this just glances off of you because you don't understand it; but, God doesn't break his rules so that you can define dogmas that you like.
Honestly, man. If we said that Mary avoided sin all on her own, which you seem to be saying, then there would be no need for a Savior and you would rip me for that.
Mary did avoid sin all on her own, it's called refusing to partake in it and leading a righteous life. And in the event that she did sin, it required following the sacrificial system for purification from her sin. She met those obligations and led a righteous life. That is the only way she could be without sin under the old system. You guys need magic acts and such because she has to be polished once you get her on the pedastal. Once again, in a race to build a more believeable pile of garbage, Catholicism just up and defines doctrine to make it's other doctrines seem right. Polishing lies with Blasphemy may seem right to you, but it enrages me.
If we say that Mary needed special assistance from God to remain sinless you rip us for saying God violated the devil's "rights" and turned Mary into a slave.
Nobody needed special assistance in the old days to live a righteous life - they just needed to obey God. The same is true today, with the caviat now of accepting Christ rather than heeding the old sacrificial system. Ya'll act like there was no such thing as a righteous person before Jesus came along. You can't really be that dumb.
There's no pleasing some people who are already pleased with themselves.
When you're selling spraypainted bricks for Gold, you're right. I'm not going to be pleased with your Bricks. When you blaspheme God in the midst of selling a fraud, don't expect me to be Mr. understanding.
ANGELO !! ha ha. Actually, I started to order the statements that way last night when I wrote them, I thought of you, and changed it!!!
All the apostles were given the authority to bind or loose, it's just that some chose not to use it as a bully pulpit for control.
Freely willed repetition, Lol, that sounds so SD.
We all fight vain repetition every day, I have no special words when I ask a blessing on a meal, and if you eat three times a day, how can you ask for a blessing and give thanks 21 different times a week, with out it becoming a Yada Yada, kiss kiss, type thing?
I simply say what comes out of my heart at the time, sometimes I start by saying "Dear Lord", sometimes by saying "our heavenly Father", sometimes "Our Father in heaven", and by starting with a different title every time, all the prayers then seem to lead in a different direction every time.
If I notice that I am repeating the same thing over and over, I purposely try to add new subjects into it so it requires me to consciously think of what Im saying,
Freely willed repetition then is good, if its not vain repetition, and if it is coming from your heart and not just your mouth.
Yep, sure do. And apart from Giving birth, Mary has not one whit to do with salvation. Zero. Zilch. Zip. Nada.. She is not diety, not the creator of a God, not a 'Co' anything. God didn't give her any special place in the scheme of things beyond carrying a child to term. From there on out, all your Doctrine is manufactured by the RCC. I comprehend quite a bit. Get the Spirit of God and you can too.
Typical. And is all I see lately is the charge of "Anti-catholic," "Everyone is so mean to us poor catholic's," blah, blah, blah. LOOK AT THE WAY YOU ARE ANSWERING. Why should we like you when you won't even answer a question let alone say it civilly.
What happened to the people who ate meat on Fri. when it was a sin? How can it be fair to change rules in mid-stream? Why do you not consider it "works" when it is a made up rule by the church, that can be found no where in God's word, but will send you to hell?
"sigh" As far as the 10 commandments, those are God's laws. They serve a purpose. They show us our sins. Fasting from meat on Fri. shows us nothing. I keep the 10 because God said if you love me you will keep my commandments. I do them because I love him and feel grateful to him for saving me, NOT TO GET SAVED.
Becky
Yes, He definitely is: the God/man, Christ Jesus. "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel [GOD WITH US]." Isa. 7:14 Amen.

LOL! Well, mine are still small, so its a little easier to put principle into practice.
Becky
Interesting. But Angelo, about the first sentence--- how would you sum up the "One Truth"?
Becky
al_c:
So, God's grace is limited?
Dang skippy! You don't accept salvation, you don't got salvation. If you want to call that limiting grace, then it's dang sure limited - and By God - not man.
