Making changes to the Self-Search function, and in particular, how the database is organized in relation to Self-Search.
Self-Searches should now be lightning quick and should span many months. The current index holds about 6 months of data (all I have available.)

"I am considering making it a user preference option. "NO! Do not include me in All" That would be a GOOD THING to quote Martha....
It's not really a bad idea, and on threads I've been interested in, I usually check back to see what's happened...it could get crazy though
(not that Freepers have BIG EGOS and feel ALL should hear their opinions)
Appreciate your efforts though, this is the best forum on the web and it's to your credit that you keep up and improve! :) (errrrr did I suck up enough .....?)
thanks! ;)

If you put "All" in the to line, as I have done, you will ping everybody that has posted on the thread.Oh my....
And it works, too!

If you put "All" in the to line...This is too cool;-)
To: John Robinson
re the "all" thing...I think I will remove my "l" key just in case...

OMG, I did just that (put "all" in the "to" box) because I tried typing in a dot " . " as usual, but got a message that there was no user known as " . " LOL
Can we type in "anyone" or a ~ or what? if we don't want to ping someone to the thread but want to post a comment or bump it?
To: 68-69TonkinGulfYatchClub
Thanks for the ping, ya got me with some powerful good people there - yourself included. Am not computer savvy enough to really appreciate the things going on behind the scenes, but am greatful that YOU WHO MAKE IT WORK are a tribute to keeping America great.
To: GretchenEE
You can put in nothing. Simply delete whatever was there.
To: John Robinson
Okay, Thanks.

Thanks for the bump, it worked. So far I have a love/hate attitude towards the new look. I really like not having to load an uninteresting thread and I hate having to navigate through the pieces of an interesting thread. Please keep the old style option.

Thanks for the ping, 2nd, it worked!!

This is so wonderful. Sometimes I ping one person and sometimes my little list of about 12 or so. Thank you so much.

When people type "All" into the subject line, that's how it should appear to people being flagged (in the self-search page). That would make it easier for people to avoid being spammed.

No, just to people that have posted on the thread. I am considering making it a user preference option. "NO! Do not include me in All"
Sounds good; better than eliminating the feature...
To: John Robinson; Arthur McGowan
I am considering making it a user preference option. "NO! Do not include me in All" Please quit considering it and implement the user preference option immediately or else knock off the "All" feature completely.
I now understand Arthur's frustration and will never kid him again about multiple ping lists.
To: Harley_hog; LadyX
It works! Put in "all" and everyone gets pinged!
