Making changes to the Self-Search function, and in particular, how the database is organized in relation to Self-Search.

Self-Searches should now be lightning quick and should span many months. The current index holds about 6 months of data (all I have available.)

These new changes work great, much faster than earlier today. Infinite To: buffer is a great idea, too. Good job John & everyone else who helped.

Interesting. I was pinged on this post but I didn't see my name, so I clicked on "Old Style" and 1/2 of Free Republic was listed in the "To:" section. What a huge list!

I'll have to get used to this new-fangled FR. So far, so good!

Great! Now, can you add a feature to search within your self-search using keywords from articles' headlines? Then we would be able to track down old posts from long ago...

Apparently you can't flag imaginary people now. That must be why we have to register all of our bump lists with FR Central Command =)

So we type in the name, and you replace that with our FR ID#s in your database... I LIKE IT! GREAT WORK!

It's almost like lounging in a deckchair aboard an oceanliner watching the fishies swim by, and pondering the purpose of porpoises (or, somthun' like that), knowing that the ship's controls are being attended to by the genious co-captain.
Isn't that what makes a good cruise, after all? ; )

Sueann, do what I do. After sending the FRmail, back up to the 'write message' screen (the message should still be there), change the name to your screen name and send the same message to yourself. My messages sometimes go through several re-writes before I finally send them. It's very handy to review exactly what you said. I also do this if I'm in the middle of a long message and am interupted. Then I can go back to that message and use cut & paste to finish my message.
