Mayor Rudolph Giuliani rejected a $10 million donation to the Twin Towers fund from a Saudi prince today after learning that the billionaire followed the gift with a press release that stated that Israelis slaughtered Palestinians daily and blamed American policies toward Israel for the attacks on the World Trade Center.

Giuliani refuted the prince’s words. “Not only are these statements wrong,” he said, “they are part of the problem.”

Good for Guiliani.

The Saudi's are Wahhabis, which explains everything.

“I believe the government of the United States of America should re-examine its policies in the Middle East

I agree. We SHOULD re-examine our policies in the Middle East. We should no longer support despotic medieval tyrannies.  Which means ALL of the Muslim states except for Turkey.  From now on they can fend for themselves.

We should also do everything in our power to destroy OPEC and increase our production of oil so that we will no longer have any temptation to forget just who our enemies are.

What was a bit disappointing, though not surprising, was that President Bush went out of his way in his news conference an hour ago to say he was pleased with Saudi Arabia's cooperation to date.

If by not freezing the assets of the suspected terrorists and rebuffing any further investigation, a country can still be "pleasing" to the U.S. government, this is going to be a phony and even futile war.

Somewhere along the line the Saudi Royal Family apparently got the Bush Family by the gonads and they've never let go.

I have a feeling such actions by Iraq would not be "pleasing" to the White House.

Hypocrisy and double standards must end.

Rudy is sounding presidential these days. Though the job is very well filled by W. If Rudy could get healthy and quiet down his personal life, he might be an interesting VP choice in 2004 since Cheney has his own health problems. "Osama" may be the most popular boy's name in Islamic countries (remember, Islam is a pacifist religion and culture etc etc etc) but Lord help us, "Rudolph" is catching up to it here.

More and more it's looking like the Saudis are the real problem in this. They're also making themselves more and more dispensable as an ally.

And isn't that little tool who appeared with OBL on the video a Kuwaiti? Didn't we fight a war to free them or something? Gosh, it's hard to remember...

Even better, seize the Saudi and other Gulf oil fields.

I'd rather have as little to do with those Middle East barbarians as possible. While your idea is intriguing, it most definitely would lead to an all out war with the Islamic Muslims, which means every Arab state would join in too. Are we prepared for that? I don't think so.

Methinks the prince has been building too many sand castles lately.

Rudy--a great man of great principles.

GOOD on RUDY!

The "Saudi's" have been walking a dangerous religious/moral tightrope which was CUT on 9/11!

"W" TOLD them the parameters of ihe current world, but, obviously, some of them cannot comprehend that there is a point when Principle trumps "Business!"

Clearly this Saudi "prince" thinks that the murder of 6,000+ innocents is merely a "Business Problem."

Sad.

He should "go back," & study the fateful words of Admiral Yamamoto following "Pearl Harbor!"

A Terrible Justice is soon to be delivered. Saudi Arabia is NOT "Immune!"

The "Shape of the political World" is about to change--& "Saudi Arabia" has NO SPECIAL STATUS in the minds of several hundred million VERY PISSED-OFF Americans!

The "Niceties" of "Diplomacy" are IRRELEVANT when thousands of our countrymen have been murdered in the name of a "religion" responsible for several centuries of barbarism.

THIS is AMERICA--NO-ONE accepts the "Lawyers' arguments" that those who massacre in the name of "Islam" aren't REALLY "Islamic!" {Most especially when "Islamic" types like this Saudi "prince" REFUSE to VIOLENTLY separate themselves from the murderers--expose them & repudiate them, "turn them in, destroy their contacts"}!

Quite frankly, since "Islam"--even as a justification for mass murder--has NOT been vehemently & violently condemned by the "Practitioners" of it's allegedly "Peaceful" concepts (Dozens--THOUSANDS--of the practitioners of "Radical Islam" SHOULD HAVE BEEN TURNED OVER TO LOCAL POLICE BY NOW!!)--ALL "followers" of this "religion" MUST be suspect.

WHY haven't these people alerted their fellow Americans to the "Radicals" in their midst?

Doc

If not for Israel, The World Trade Center would be standing tall and proud today.

Any other of bin Laden's opinions you share?

I actually thought the same thing when I saw the headline - that is, I thought it was The Artist Formerly Known as Prince whose $10m cheque was rejected, and I wondered why that would be. I had a good laugh at myself when I read the story.

"Too bad he couldn't smack him."

The embarrassment of the returned "gift" will serve better than any physical assault. Rudy just thumbed his beautiful nose at an obvious bribe.

Hey Rudy! PLEASE run for Hillary's office!!! It would be wonderful to have someone in her place that knows how to refuse a bribe. What a concept!

I saw this supposed Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal when he was at ground zero, with his crass smile and shifting eyebrows, He looked like he was on drugs, imagine Father Sarducci from SNL in drag.

I hope they made his jet sit on the tarmack all day waiting to for clearence. Rudy could have gone down to the airport and had a couple Rabis bounce the idiot around the terminal, then told him he really should reconsider his position in suppoerting the Palistinian Terrorist, and signed the check over to the Meat Packers Union.

"...All out war with the Muslims..."

I don't think so. Particularly if some of the oil income was diverted to the benefit of the Arab states that have no oil. Also, countries at a distance from the Gulf, such as Egypt, would have a great deal of trouble getting their armies into the fight.

All that has to be done is to seize the oil fields, all of which are very near the Gulf and under it, and a buffer zone. We wouldn't be interested in any other territory. The inhabitants could be suitable induced to leave the area involved.

Having most of the oil in the world under the control of people like the Saudis and Kuwaitis is a greater risk/price than the industrialized world should have to pay.
