I work in a power plant in Michigan. Last Friday afternoon, three young middle eastern-looking men showed up in the plant carrying cameras. They asked for a tour so they can take pictures for a photo-journalism college class they were taking. My boss, the plant director, talked with them, got the name of their professor and turned them away. Having noticed the discussion I talked with my boss afterwards. I asked them if he thought that was peculiar. He said yes. I asked him if he was going to call the police. He didnt answer. He just turned around and walked away.
This afternoon I noticed on Free Republic a post about three Pakistani men who were discovered inside of a water treatment in Hudson, New York. The similarity of that incident to the one in my plant seemed like it was far beyond coincidental. I called my boss (Im off today), and told him about it. He told me he had contacted the professor of the three students. The professor told him he thought he knew who those three students were, but that they had had no specific assignment to try to get pictures of our plant. My boss told me he would follow up, without being specific how he planned to it.
Well, I decided I wanted to know for sure that the proper people were being notified, so after contemplating for a couple of hours, I decided to call the FBI. The office listed in my phone directory is in Detroit. I called and was connected to the command center. The gentleman I spoke with would not give me his name. I started out by telling him that I work in a power plant and three students showed up wanting to take pictures. Oh yeah, he said, were getting a lot of that. What do you make of it, I asked. We dont know what to make of it, he said.
This guy did not seem interested in hearing about it. I say this because he did not ask me any questions, as I expected he would. Finally, I asked him, Well, dont you want to know more about it? Sure, he said, go ahead. So I explained the rest to him. I asked what he thinks we should do. He said if it happens again, ask them for picture identification.
I find this rather disturbing. It sounds as if this is happening all over the country, yet those who have a responsibility to investigate dont seem to want to pursue it. One would think, at the very least, warnings out to be going out to utilities to beware of swarthy men carrying cameras
My point is that you'll find that the vast majority of people still have their heads buried deeply in the sand. Remember, these are the same people who elected Bill Clinton twice and almost elected Al Gore.
MM
btw: What does a "swarthy" man look like
Wouldn't that place 99% of the nation's porno movie directors under suspicion?
This gentleman's supervisor needs to know that he would not give his name and that he showed no interest in what you were reporting. And what is the matter with your supervisor, BeBaw? It appears that he didn't show the appropriate concern for this incident.
Unless you are swarthy-complected yourself---in that case you can expect to be followed by people snapping your picture, and if they're swarthy, there'll be people following them...
I wish I could have gotten a picture of you typing that... just in case...
Something like this?
And no, I am not going to say what the company is called.
Andy and his wife were at the local Costco when he noticed the manager having a heated argument with a middle eastern man. The arab was holding a video camera, and he had been filming everything in the store. The manager asked him to stop, and the arab was refusing.
Andy thought this was odd, but paid for his items and left. Out in the parking lot (which is massive and contains a large gas station), he and his wife noticed another middle eastern man, this one with a still camera. This man was photographing the outside of the Costco, the gas station, and the panorama from the hilltop parking lot, which just happens to be Dulles Airport.
At this point, Andy and his wife began to worry. Just then, the other Middle Eastern guy came out of the Costco, got in a car, and drove over to pick the outside guy up (IIRC). Andy's wife took down the license plate number and they went back in to tell the Costco manager, who was very concerned and flustered.
Andy did the right thing--he called the FBI. Then he went on the radio to tell others to be vigilant. Good job, Andy.
It could be that his caseload has just increased significantly, what with all the diaperheads whining about their civil liberties being violated. Or he may have been running a little late and urgently needed to get to his next multi-culuralism/sensitivity training seminar. Give the guy a break!
And I have one little bratling neighbor kid (he's one of the four) that insists ON SCREAMING EVERY SINGLE THING HE SAYS AND I'M tired of listening to him....;-) Best Regards...Deej
