Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |

The Neverending Story (The Christian Chronicles) -- Thread 161
Agreed.
In a place of perfect love how could we love "our" family more than we love anyone else?
Don't Catholics believe that there are varying levels of reward in Heaven? God loves all of us, but some will be rewarded more highly than others. Similarly, we will love everyone, but there will still be a special, unique relationship with our spouses and children.
Then again, my cat is so happy with his life here, keeping the yard safe from small mammals. Since his hunting is his true nature, would he be happy where "the cat lies down with the chipmunk"?
Our cats are cowards. A few weeks ago, all three of them got out at night through an unlocked patio screen door (one of them managed to paw it open enough for them to slip through). I had to go out looking for them with a flashlight, and found all of them cowering in the pumpkin patch in the garden.
Perhaps the cats will enjoy chasing virtual mice in the heavenly holodeck. ;o)
I can just picture my cat Tweek up there, horking up heavenly hairballs!
Maybe the cats will serve the Lord by being our tormenters in Purgatory?
Would I enjoy being relatively the size of a mouse to a "playful" cat? Remember, they're not really domesticated, they're just not big enough to eat us.

I do not deny a paradox in the Incarnation. However, neither should one say that Jesus COULD not sin. To say that Jesus was incapable of sin is to deny his humanity. And to suppress either the divine or human nature of Christ is to err.
I'm still awaiting yours. But you gonna keep trying to change the subject cuz you don't have one. So for the 3rd time, chapter and verse please?
He comes and goes (he comes and go-o-o-oes)

Ah ok....Once catholic always catholic I guess. (barring excomunication)

Well, this is a new revelation. What happened? Falling asleep while serving mass? Sneaking communion wine? Pulling pigtails?
(Roughly translated "in my pants")

No. Some nuns blew the whistle on me and my friend for dancing with the big book behind the priest's back while he was washing some chalices. My parents pressured me into becoming an altar boy against my will so I didn't take it too seriously.
No. Not really. I believe I shared being a former altar boy about 50 threads ago. I wasn't worthy.
Seems to me that your faith had already soured.
Ratted out by the nuns, eh? LOL! When I was at a Catholic high school, we had a young nun-in-training as a religion teacher. Unlike the older ones, she had a sense of humor. We used to joke with her that old nuns never died. They were just put in storage in huge vaults under the Vatican. When needed, they were pulled out, sprinkled with holy water, and recommissioned.
C'mon, Pelayo, 4th graders are nine years old. How mature were you at that age? Sheesh.
There's the "after Memorial Day and before Labor Day" Magisterium. The "Just used by a little old lady to drive to Church on Sunday" magisterium.
Seriously, the "ordinary" Magisterium, is just that -- the normal everyday decision makers at the Vatican.
The "extraordinary" Magisterium would be the rare event when all of the bishops of the world gather for a council, like Vatican II.
