As a shrink, it is difficult to understand your conviction about it. . . .

As a normal human being, it is difficult to understand how you could somehow take Giddyup's statement "I think it's BS" and interpret it to mean that he has a "conviction" about it. You THINK it's true. He THINKS it isn't. Yet his belief is a "conviction" (and of course you are attempting to use the word in a negative context) whereas you are merely enlightened. Dream on.

To say nothing of your completely false (and, one would think, embarrassingly arrogant) implication that because you're a psychiatrist (if you even are), that somehow makes your beliefs about Biblical prophesy even one iota more informed than his.

I repent of any arrogance. Certainly nothing I want and want even less to display.

Am not saying my professional training makes me a flawless Bible scholar. Analytical skills can be helpful but not flawless.

My experience with statistics in my professional study and life are useful regarding the Bible Codes.

My point about my profession is that it is a fascinating psychological, sociological phenomenon to observe people's fierce biases about this topic. It's fascinating, curious, interesting, flabbergasting.

My dissertation studied such . . . biases shall we say. No, I won't disclose as I wish privacy strongly for too many serious reasons. . . . There is a certain quality of communication and discourse which indicates a certain level of, degree of, quality of permeability regarding one's super-ordinate constructs.

Generally speaking, the constructs of most people on FR seem to be reasonably balanced and reasonably permeable. But get into the Bible Codes subject area and the picture changes dramatically and immediately.

THAT PHENOMENON IS A FASCINATING PHENOMENON IN AND OF ITSELF.

I'm also suggesting from my experienc, training and research that such a phenomenon has little or nothing to do with the validity or lack of validity of the Bible Codes. It's an entirely OTHER phenomenon. That's all I was trying to suggest. Sorry it came across as arrogant. I don't feel arrogant. I'm a very flawed fellow traveler.

But neither have I earned the disrespect etc. dumped on me because of my views about the Bible Codes--particularly when the evidence is on the side of the Codes--OVERWHELMINGLY--MORE OUTRAGEOUSLY OVERWHELMINGLY than you can posit for any similar issue from virtually any area of scientific inquiry.
