I just received a call from my contact at Ron Paul's office.
Ron Paul today introduced two bills into the House of Representatives which would authorize the State Department to issue letters of Marque authorizing privateers to attack and collect assets from terrorists who commit hostile acts against the U.S.
This means that you (yes you personallywould be able to help to bring down the rogue and nationless enemies of the United States provided you meet a few requirements.
The precendence for this bill is based on specific Constitutional powers and was seen as a remedy by our founders for those nationaless terrorists who committed acts against U.S. merchant ships on the high seas. We're dealing with Pirates here and a significant effort has been made by Ron Paul's team to create a legal definition for "Air Piracy" which would include hijackings.
The text of the Bills have not been published yet but I will update everyone the moment the text becomes available.
The Bills are: H.R. 3074 and H.R. 3076
Please call your congressman and tell him that you want them to either sponsor or support this bill.

Okay. But do you think it will pass the Senate? Well, it won't if it doesn't get out of the House. Hence, the "grandstanding"

"...In other words, Paul cut through the B.S. and shenanigans of both political parties and they hate him for it. Both parties are trying to get rid of him because he reminds them every day (through his actions) that they are breaking their oath of office. BOTH parties..."That's a fact. More people should know it.
If we had a couple of hundred more congressmen with Rep. Ron Paul's principles, we might again have the country the Constitution was written for.

This kind of thing has been very effective in the past. For example, the plague of train robberies in the Wild West was considerably dampened when the bandits understood that passenger cars were full of armed men prepared to shoot without having to call the sherriff for help.

I saw a guy on cable about 2 weeks ago--he represented a private group of business leaders who were posting a reward for OBL--wonder if this bill would help companies who do trades for front organizations that play the markets and sell short in anticipation of terrorist acts (like people who shorted the airline stocks) become more vigilant--I'd personally love to see any and all people have an opportunity to deny these guys the profits from their crimes.

OK, I'm waiting for a few more pieces of the puzzle to fall into place.
First, this war is going to have to expand just a little bit more. Once Iraq is involved we really have the stage set.
We get a nice little assortment of boats with a few RPGs, a mini-gun or two and a crew of scurvy bilgerats. Then we lounge around off of Grand Bahama until a tanker comes by flying the proper flag and WHAM!
We nab the whole kit and kaboodle and make for Fort Lauderdale.
One of those tankers, and we are set for life.
I'm looking for a few good bilgerats to help fill out my scurvy crew.

A little competition from the private sector won't hurt the war on terrorism. It might make the public sector work more diligently to prove that they are up to the task. Go Palladin.
