"You got your post ready to go on the Chimp? This should be fun."

This is the post I'm going to go with...
"Should Bill Clinton Be Immune From Prosecution?!"

"From another thread, a discussion about whether or not America should hold Bill Clinton accountable for the multiple felonies he and his Administration have committed...

bayourod in bold

"...focus only on the question of whether Bill Clinton should be brought to trial. This was the great question when Nixon resigned and Ford pardoned him because he didn't think the nation should be put through the ordeal of a trial of Mr. Nixon."

First off, Nixon was never accused of committing a criminal offense vis a vis Watergate. Ford pardoned him, but there was never an actual law broken...I would argue that Clinton has committed multiple felonies that, if prosecuted, would have him in jail until the day he passed on to his Final Judgement.

"Some of the considerations should be:
1. How serious was the offense? Was it a technical violation such as comingling union contributions in hard money accounts; or was it a universally recognized crime such as murder of a potential witness?"

While I seriously believe Clinton has most likely conspired to have folks murdered, I've yet to see the concrete evidence; still, just because he's an ex-POTUS, should he be allowed to get away with rampant Abuse of Power, blatant Obstruction of Justice and Perjury, and making a mockery of our existing Campaign Finance Laws? I say no.

"2. What was the impact of the crime on the nation? Was the impact negligible like pardoning someone for going AWOL during World War II; or does the crime threaten the very existence of the country, such as selling China the secrets enabling them to destroy every major city in the nation?"

As the highest-ranking member of the Executive Branch, IMHO Clinton's crimes have done major damage to the legitimacy of our government, and thereby the "very existence of the country." How can a blatant abuser of our laws be allowed to go absolutely unpunished in a Land that claims that NO MAN IS ABOVE THE LAW?! Explain that to the teenager imprisoned for smoking a weed in his basement.

"3. How strong is the evidence? Is it circumstantial, relying on the testimony of dubious witnesses; or is there incontrovertable physical evidence such as video recordings and records written in Bill's hand?"

The arrogance Clinton has displayed in committing multiple felonies has resulted in a carelessness that will bear fruit in any SERIOUS investigation of his crimes. There are many, many people within his sphere of influence who know where the skeletons are buried, and they have likewise committed crimes in his service. As these underlings are brought to Justice and plead out, they will provide valuable testimony linking Clinton to any number of crimes that you and I may never even been aware of. And Clinton has been extremely sloppy in leaving documented proof of his guilt to be readily discovered by hungry investigators.

"4. Was the offense committed as an official act, such as selling seats on trade missions, or was it entirely separate from official duties, such as rape?"

SHEEESH, my FRiend, I cannot believe you actually believe this is a consideration. We are a Nation of Laws, and if those laws are legitimate enough to prosecute you or me for, why not some hayseed from Arkansas?

"5. Would prosecution cause bitter division among Americans because the offense is one that people hold strongly held opposite opinions on, such as lying about having sex because that's what gentlemen are taught to do; or one that everyone is in agreement on, such as using FBI files to blackmail elected officials?"

Once again, if folks are going to argue that the Laws are invalid, how come we don't see an uprising calling for said laws to be revoked, so that you and I cannot be held accountable for them, just like the ex-Most Powerful Man in the FReeWorld?!

"6. How would prosecution effect future policy. Would it create a public outcry for campaign finance reform that would result in destruction of our First Amendment rights and turn the government over to liberal Democrats? Would it appear to Democrat voters as petty vindictiveness on the part of Republicans that would result in such a backlash that Democrat Senators would be forced to reject confirmation of pro-life judges?"

Here, my FRiend, you are arguing political strategy. Fair enough, as that seems to be most FReepers' argument against holding the ex-First Felon accountable for his many crimes against this Nation. My response is that this is a very important time in our Country's history, as we are deciding whether or not We the Sheeple will sit idly by and allow Rampant Corruption to go on at the highest echelons of the Federal Guv'ment, and do absolutely NOTHING!! SHEEESH...Clinton's not a frickin' KING...he's no different than you or I!! Are LeftWing DemocRATS going to actually argue that a corrupt ex-POTUS should be allowed to get away with committing multiple felonies? If so, are the Sheeple going to go along meekly and support those same hopelessly-corrupt individuals in the next election? If so, we've already lost this Country, and we should readily expect to go the way of the once-great Roman Empire.

"Now to answer your question. I believe we elected a President who is of extremely high moral character who loves this country and is trying as hard as he can to do what he sincerely believes is best for our nation. I believe that he chose an honest, conscientious, competent Attorney General. I have complete confidence in their judgment and will support whatever decisions that they make."

Here, my FRiend, we are in complete agreement...however, I believe Dubyuh and Ashcroft need to hear from folks who "sincerely believe [what] is best for our nation" is that the Guilty--no matter how Powerful or allegedly popular--are brought to Justice!! Are we a Nation of Laws? Or are certain folks in this Country ABOVE the Laws that govern and restrict the rest of us?

As for J.W., whatever...you may question their motivation as you see fit, but at least they seem to be trying to do something about the Injustice that is the Clinton Administration. That's more than I seem to be seeing from the Department of Justice these days.

------------------------------------------------

Seriously, my new found Smirkin' Chimpster FRiends, am I just a Right-Wing Whacko for expecting the Laws of this Nation to apply to ALL Americans...even those who once held office at the highest echelons of our Federal Guv'ment?!

"Re China arms Taliban--see Unrestricted Warfare.
Re China arms Pakistan--and they deny us ABM defense.
China is a threat--we are its main enemy--"war is inevitable"

China Reform Monitor No. 409, October 15, 2001
American Foreign Policy Council, Washington, DC

http://www.afpc.org

Editor: Al Santoli

INDIA CLAIMS CHINA PROVIDED WEAPONS TO TALIBAN AND ALLIES; BEIJING FAILS TO BUDGE ON MISSILE PROLIFERATION TO PAKISTAN
September 22:

Indian Intelligence agencies claim China has covertly supplied weapons to Taliban and their supporters in Pakistan, reports the New Delhi Pioneer. A classified report of the Core Intelligence Processing Unit (CIPU) indicates that most of these weapons acquired by the Lashkar-i-Taiyibah (LeT) fundamentalists and other terrorist groups could be used against the US security forces if they operate from Pakistani bases against the Taliban. Their sympathizers within the Pakistani army could also complicate matters.

The weapons which exchanged hands between Taliban and terrorists waging war in Kashmir include anti-aircraft guns, RK-87, RL-47, disposable missiles, Pika machine-guns and 62 mm mortars. Intelligence reports reveal that there had been clandestine meetings between the Chinese agents and the Taliban commanders. Amir of the LeT also visited Kandahar. China which has 70 50 mile stretch of border with Afghanistan has trade links with the Taliban and have allegedly helped Kabul in upgrading their defense capabilities. "Though Beijing has repeatedly denied its involvement with the Taliban, we have information that Kabul has access to Chinese defense agents," said a source.

September 23:
In Khartoum, Sudan, a Chinese delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Justice began bilateral talks on increased cooperation, reports the Republic of Sudan Radio. The talks, at the Sudan Ministry of Justice, were hosted by Ustad Ali Muhammad Uthman Yasin, the Sudanese Minister of Justice. Addressing the opening session, the Yasin hailed the Sino-Sudanese relations and described them as "strategic." And stressed the need to boost these relations. The Chinese Deputy Justice Minister stressed his country's support for cooperation with Sudan in the legal and justice spheres. The talks discussed aspects of joint cooperation in the legal sphere, training, legislation and the judiciary.

The Oman Muscat News Agency reports an official Chinese military delegation led by the Commander of Jinan Military Area ended a several-day visit in the Persian Gulf Sultanate of Oman.

October 12:
After several days of talks with US officials in Beijing, China has refused to budge on its transfers of missile technology to Pakistan, reports Reuters. The lack of progress made it unlikely that US sanctions on China would be lifted before the meeting between President George Bush and Jiang Zemin in Shanghai later this month. "There was basically no movement on the Chinese part," said a US official. Another official said the sanctions would not be lifted, "without change in China's behavior." However the issue continues to be debated within the Bush administration, Reuters adds. Some officials described as "China hands," were reluctant to impose sanctions in the first place and are anxious to have them lifted, despite ongoing reports of China's proliferation activities with Pakistan's weapons of mass destruction program.

"...everyone who stays away from protests is not a supporter of our effort against the terrorists."

Could be a brain cloud, but I've looked and looked and have no clue what you're talking about. (^:

I did say this:
Oct. 14th Boston Freep:
Boston population~589,141. Over 586,000 Boston residents did not protest. For every 1 protestor, there were ~300 non-protestors, therefore, the non-protestors should get 300 times more coverage in the media, IMHO. The will of the people!

With DC's population at ~ 572,059: the biggest exaggerated press #s for peace protestors at 20,000 a few weeks ago is a measly 3% of DC's population.

Oct.14th Weekend protests in Nigeria, Germany and England:
In London ~20,000 protested, or ~ 59,488,382 people in Great Britain did not protest...but the 1 person out of 3000 has the press in a tizzy (hint for Reuters- 1 non-protestor can kick at least 5 protestors' butts - you think they're motivated!).

Roughly 14,000 turned out in Berlin to protest, or ~82,783,408 Germans did not protest. Less than 2 in 10,000 Germans protested.

Math 101 for the press:
We were told today (Oct. 15th) that 500 people protested in Karachi, Pakistan. The population of Karachi in 1998 was 9,269,265. 500 protestors divided by 9,269,265 = .0000539 or about 5 protestors for every 100,000 non-protestors in Karachi, statistically negligent.

Apologies to Freepers for stating the obvious. The polls prove that the press gives an unrealistic and exaggerated account of these protest rallies. The vast, vast, vast, vast majority of non-protestors are being disenfranchised by the press.

I was half-joking, but the protest coverage is overblown by the media and if these peaceniks get a Woodstock-type foothold across the nation while we're fighting the Taliban, civil war is possible, IMHO (I would throw the first punch).

LOL...the Leftist Hackers Hate and Fear the Truth, don't they?! Reminds me a story from the Summer of '00. In June/July of last year, I became APPALLED that there were no FReeper Rallies Fer Justice planned in DeeCee until October 2000's "March Fer Liberty II." Therefore, me and a few other FReepers decided upon 12 August 2000 for the date of the Patriot's March Fer Justice in which we would call for the RE-Impeachment of the EX-Traitor-in-Chief. Well, in early-to-mid-July, I played hookey from work and began a thread in which I started publicizing the 8/12/00 Gathering and was actually building up a pretty good bit of momentum for the concept. PokerFace had agreed to play at the Lincoln Memorial and Randy Stalls had agreed to come and sing his great patriotic song "I Believe in the Children" and we had began to line up speakers, and I was literally HOUNDING Limbaugh to publicize the Event to his 20 Million listeners!! I was seriously JAZZED and my FReepin' seemed to be well-received on-Forum...in my mind, we were gonna re-open the Issue of The Appropriateness of a known Felon, Rapist, and Traitor completing his Term in the Oval Office...and just in time for the Presidential Campaign!!!

Well...then the weirdness started happening. I've got the actual thread buried in my Stack of Stuff here somewhere, but I remember prodding on my fellow FReepers with the statement, "SHEEEESH...you put out a call for Patriots and everybody runs fer the tall grass!!" Soon after, FR went down!! Well, it was late at night and--in all the excitement--I hadn't slept much for a few days, so I cozied up in my La-Z-Boy and watched a little mindless TeeVee until I fell asleep for a few hours, ignorantly leaving my computer on. When I awoke, my computer had been hacked. And not just a little hacking, but totally FRIED!! I've got some friends in the local police department and they traced the hacker through a few dummy email addresses, but the culprit was never caught, and that computer has never worked since (although I do still have it and most of my hard drive was salvageable).

Well...for awhile, I FReeped from various Kinko's locations and racked up hundreds of dollars worth of bills there and kept pushing for the 8/12/00 Patriot's March Fer Justice, but some other weird coincidences (I'll save those for another day) kept happening and the Missuz started to freak more than a bit, and the March--while held--never reached anywhere near its potential. Meanwhile, I was without a computer of my own for almost two months and my QUEST FER RE-IMPEACHMENT was derailed for the time being.

In closing, let me just point out how close I believe we were...as you know, since the Gulf War, I've listened to Rush Limbaugh religiously for anywhere from 20-30 hours per week (I tape his show and re-listen to it when I can). The very next day after my computer was hacked into oblivion, I was taping Limbaugh's show and Rush said--and this is the only time I've heard him say these words--"everybody's running for the tall grass..."!!
