Thanks for the graphic, Tonk.

FReepers should also check with their local law enforcement offices
to find out if they have volunteer civilian patrols.

Great post. Here in Florida, many fishing boat captains are also doing volunteer work to help out the Coast Guard.

Good suggestion. I'm off to take the oath this morning. It'll be strange to be in uniform again after 14 years. Word is out the CGAUX Divsion 2 will be increasing number of patrols in and around Long Beach/LA Harbor...even more than they already have - just in time for the Holidays and heavy weather.
Think I might take back that "thanks for the heads up" about CGAUX...LOL.

It's official! Just got my acceptance letter from the
Lt. Commander, U.S. Coast Guard Director of Auxiliary.
I'm going to see about taking the oath before the next monthly meeting
on Dec 4th so I can start training for radio watches.
I'd like to be able to stand a watch on Thanksgiving and give someone some time off.

Congratualations, Tonk. Admirable (pun intended) of you to relieve someone for Thanksgiving. Have you started the Boating Skills & Seamanship course? Or do you plan to get Crewmember qualified? What does it take to become radio watch qualified.

Boy, that last post was one pathetic excuse for English grammur.

I just talked with the Flotilia Commander. As soon as he gets my ID card I will meet him and then go to the base and purchase my uniform and meet with the base Exec so I can arrange training for the radio watches. Once qualified for that I'll start the seamanship courses. What they really need up here, right now, is help with the radio watches. I don't know if I will be able to relieve someone for Thanksgiving as Thanksgiving is only 8 days from now. But if not then Christmas Eve and Christmas would be the next 2 days I should be able to give someone some time off.

It's so wonderful to be able to have heroes, and you're one of mine!

"It's so wonderful to be able to have heroes"
Thank you for the kind words BUT I am not a hero,
I am just someone who loves our country as much as you do.
