A calendar (see picture below) which was printed in Egypt and shows a crashing passenger plane with Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty as a backdrop -- and which was printed in May, a full three months before the September 11 Terrorist Attacks on America -- has caused an uproar in the Dutch town of Almere, Netherlands de Telegraaf newspaper reported yesterday.
The calendar was distributed at an Islamic school long before the World Trade Center attacks. Mayor Hans Ouwerkerk, who was alerted to the calendar's existence in the local islamic school in the town of Almere, immediately notified the Dutch internal security service (BVD) about the strange coincidence. The BVD is reportedly investigating the matter.
"I am supported by Allah, to die for Allah" was quoted on the calendar, the same words reportedly used by an Egypt-Air pilot who allegedly crashed a jet in November of 1999.
The Almere town council has "urgently advised" the management of the Islamic School Foundation to "cooperate with the Dutch authorities and help determine the calender's origin."
Deputy mayor Henk Smeeman said the distribution of such controversial islamic-extremist fundamentalist propaganda material "cannot be tolerated in Almere. The town council is a strong supporter of maintaining good intercultural relationships with one another," he said. On the calendar's other illustrations, a stone-throwing Palestinian demonstrator is shown in front of the Al-Aksa mosque in Jerusalem,; others feature an Egyptian military assault during the six-day war against Israel, and another picture shows a futuristic image of a Palestinian "freeing" of Jerusalem.
The head of the Islamic school -- Mrs Dekker -- alleged had a large number of calenders in her possession from end May to the start of June, well-informed sources informed De Telegraaf. When confronted with the calender images, she responded in a shocked, startled manner and said "how did you get this" and then shrouded herself in silence when further questioned by journalists.
De Telegraaf also reported today that Dutch authorities abruptly closed the major traffic arteries into Rotterdam and Amsterdam through four river tunnels -- in immediate response to a highly detailed letter to the Dutch news agency ANP which described the exact times, (8:10am); the colour and type of vehicles which would have been used in a closely-timed wave of suicide attacks at the hight of rush hour at two of the world's busiest harbour cities.
Dutch police arrested a large number of individuals who had been identified by the anonymous tipster, who also warned that a great many other terrorist attacks would be carried out worldwide.If these riverine tunnels had collapsed, this would have meant the immediate closure of these busy international harbours and seriously disrupted international trade.

Looks to me like this bird is injured and about to go down ...
Has anyone paired-up the buildings shown here with what may be standing in various middle-eastern countries?
But in the larger version, posted later, the “smoke” looks like a dark cloud, and the “sun” looks to me like an explosion in the air, with the series of white dots showing the path of the airplane, after the explosion in the air. Since the Egypt Air flight did not explode in the air or go down in flames, I’m thinking this might be a painting of flight 800, or (which is very likely) this is just an artist’s “interpretation” of the Egypt Air crash.
Note that the Statue of Liberty is out of place, so this seems to be a general “symbolic” NY skyline.
Looks kinda like skylines seen near the water's edge in several locales on this planet (exc for what only suggests may be the S-O-L) ...

It *seems* to me that an Islamic calendar just might be remembering an EA flight, after all who would possible be FLYING to Egypt (I don't recall specifically just where this flight was heading)?
I think they're remembering EA990 ... the conspiracy theorists among us (YOU know who you are) are simply trying, once again, to co-opt this into their usual conspiracy-spin.
Because no other skyline has a Statue of Liberty.
I covered that base in my previous reply ... BUT - you're assuming the locale based on the statue and ignoring the principle that the S-O-L suggests ... it also appears to be a veiled woman ala 'Taliban suggested woman's dress' replete with full facial covering ...
BTW - that looks to be a departing flight from the city not a flight into the city (hence my repeated suggestion that it is EA990 remembered and NOT as the conspiracy minded around us would forever in undying repetition suggest) ...
Seen it - dismissed it (it's NOT, of course, even one of the WTC towers).
I *wonder* how many ordinary pictures I could turn into conspiracy-oriented stuff if I put my mind to it ...
That’s a French “Liberty” outfit if ever I saw one. That’s the Statue of Liberty in the painting. She’s holding a raised torch in her right hand, there are “rays” sticking out of her headdress, and she’s holding the book in her left arm. Your eyes must be going bad.
This is an “artist’s composite”, a montage of a crash and the NY skyline. When I worked as a magazine editor, I worked with an art director to make things like this up so we could get a lot of stuff in one drawing. This probably represents the Egypt Air crash, but the explosion and flames were probably added from the Flight 800 crash for “artistic effect”. The wing tip hitting the water reminds me of video of that crash off the coast of Africa about 5 years ago. The Statue of Liberty was merely moved so it would fit into the picture. The buildings are probably not any particular real buildings, just a mix of Manhattan-type buildings on the skyline.
I remember when I worked for the magazine, there is something in the.... I think it’s the copyright law or some other law that says that commercial artists can’t copy buildings exactly without the permission of the owner of the building. That might be part of international law too. That’s probably why the WTC towers are covered up by the low cloud. Also, that's probably why the building painted in the eyeglasses ad is a simulation of a Manhattan-type building, but it’s not a painting of a real building. It looks a little like the Empire State Building, but it’s not.

The suggestion being - if it involves NYC then it MUST by default also involve the WTC (somehow, miraculously and always) ...

EXACTLY! There are no WTC towers in the painting. This is a painting that is supposed to look like lower Manhattan as seen from the South, from either Governor’s Island or Brooklyn Heights, but with no specific buildings being depicted. The area where the WTC towers “should be” is covered up by clouds. They aren’t there, but the Statue of Liberty is. The Statue is what makes it New York, not Cairo, London, or Paris. I never said “it involves the WTC”. I said this painting is about either the Egypt Air crash or the Flight 800 crash. Since this is an Egyptian calendar, I would say this is supposed to depict the Egypt Air crash, in an “artist’s conception” montage.
