Sheesh, the Pathans have similar traditions to Jews because they are Muslim, who have 'borrowed' most Jewish tradition (Kosher = Muslim Halal, circumsicion, not eating pork etc. etc.) Besides, North-western India (parts now in Afghanistan and Pakistan) have fallen under quite a few wandering tribes, from Greeks to Scyths to Huns to Mongols to Turkic groups, so they are a mix. The Bene-Israeli are found in the South of India in Kerala where many Jews fled after the destruction of the second temple in 70 A.D. and where they were welcomed by the King.

There is more to it than just that. In the video version of this story, Simcha interviews some from among the Pathans and makes a pretty good case. Some may have fled to the south of india after the destruction of the second temple. But scripture tells us that the 10 tribes had long since been in that region. Simcha deals with the names of places listed in scripture and draws comparison to the modern names which still bare up under comparison to the hebrew counterparts. He goes into enough detail to be quite convincing. It isn't really a common sense notion that Muslims would take on the practices of Israelites whom they bare a rather extreme hatred for. I think you'd have a pretty difficult time selling that. So I guess I'd say, try to keep an open mind - if you can.
