Enslave your girls and women, harbor anti-U.S. terrorists, destroy every vestige of civilization in your homeland, and the Bush administration will embrace you. All that matters is that you line up as an ally in the drug war, the only international cause that this nation still takes seriously.
That's the message sent with the recent gift of $43 million to the Taliban rulers of Afghanistan, the most virulent anti-American violators of human rights in the world today. The gift, announced last Thursday by Secretary of State Colin Powell, in addition to other recent aid, makes the U.S. the main sponsor of the Taliban and rewards that "rogue regime" for declaring that opium growing is against the will of God. So, too, by the Taliban's estimation, are most human activities, but it's the ban on drugs that catches this administration's attention.

The Drug Warriors finance mass murderers and terrorists.
We are shortly going to send fleets of bombers to rain a hell-storm of fire and brimstone upon those terrorists and their harbors -- all of which I wholeheartedly approve.
But when all this is over, remember this: The Drug Warriors were paying these butcher's meal tickets. Guess there's a common bond in Jihad.
Well put.
On Fox News recently, they ran a factoid at the bottom of the screen stating that the federal government spent approximately $300M last year on anti-terrorism projects. I think the federal Drug War alone sucked up about $15B: 50 TIMES AS MUCH!
Hopefully, just hopefully, priorities will change --> let's stop harassing honest citizens for smoking joints and go after these demonic killers with the utmost resolve.
Robert Scheer looked away and defended 8 years of Klinton dealing away our country to its enemies; including Afghanistan. He is unpricipled and there is no reason to listen to him.
Certain points could be made about ensuring that the money was allocated with integrity....make them if you can. Leave the spin out of it, fraud. It had NOTHING to do with drugs, or the WOD...stop projecting.
Oh yeah--and it's probably not the best idea to use sources like Scheer, a self-confessed extremist liberal with an even more extremist agenda.
I'm in favor of drilling every patch of black snow in Alaska, and I sound like a "greenie"? You're a dunce.
My point is that even if Alaskan reserves were to prove less-than-estimated (as Interventionist Texaggie79 is desperately hoping they will be, so that his war-mongering Interventionist policies are not shown to be totally bankrupt), there is still no valid reason for insisting that we be dependent upon foreign oil.
You just keep ignoring the fact that the oil out of the middle east is essential to the world economy.
And money is essential to the middle eastern economy.
Which is why no matter who controls the oil, they are going to sell it. The only question for the US is, do we want to take Texaggie's advice and be dependent on foreign oil? Or shall we remind Texaggie again that he is an willfully-ignorant intellectual and emotional adolescent, and that his advice is always wrong, and we would be far better off if we were not so dependent upon foreign oil, exploiting Alaskan and domestic Gulf-of-Mexico sources instead.
Since when do you let pesky little facts get in your way? 419 Posted on 09/14/2001 09:26:22 PDT by Texaggie79
Here's some more "pesky little facts" for you, petulant child:
That's the message sent with the recent gift of $43 million to the Taliban rulers of Afghanistan, the most virulent anti-American violators of human rights in the world today. The gift, announced last Thursday by Secretary of State Colin Powell, in addition to other recent aid, makes the U.S. the main sponsor of the Taliban and rewards that "rogue regime" for declaring that opium growing is against the will of God. Your "realist" policies of Internationalism and Drug War have combined to directly finance the Terrorists who blew up the World Trade Center.
You wrote their paychecks, Traitor-boy.
At the beginning of US involvement in World War II, there was a term: "American Quislings" -- those americans who had directly supported, financed, aided and abetted the enemy regimes prior to the US entry into the War.
In this war, you and your Internationalist, drug-warrior pals ARE the American Quislings. Your policies have cut the checks that financed 10,000 murdered citizen's death warrants.
Another foreign policy "success" from the Internationalist "realists".
When our external enemies have been destroyed, it will be high time that Internationalists and Drug Warriors like yourself admit the blind, arrogant stupidity of your traitorous policies and begged their fellow Americans for forgiveness for their crimes against their countrymen.
But will you ever do so??
Of course not.
Why?
Because you are BLIND, ARROGANT, AND STUPID, that's why.
That is why you advocate blind, arrogant, and stupid policies.
It is who you are.
No FReeping kidding (and I say that as one who has cast more total GOP votes in my life than LP -- I vote the best man on the ticket, regardless of what lapel pin he wears).
I saw this and my ire hit the proverbial roof. These Internationalist/Drug-Warrior/Neo-Con traitors cut the Taliban's paychecks. For a few moments, I was furious.
Then, my fury subsided to a cold, cynical rage. Because of course they did. Why am I surprised? When it all comes down to it, this is the logical extension of their foreign policies. In short: it figures.
Ooooh that smell. Can't ya smell that smell? OooOooh that smell. Lynard Skynard.

Stinks to high heaven, Leon. Roger that.
Did I say that. I said the WORLD economy depends on it, and there is no way to change that. You are an arrogant ass that thinks we can close our borders and cover our ears and ignore the rest of the world. This is God's plan even. Do you not see the Biblical implications.....wait I forgot who I was talking to.... your Bible comprehension SUCKS.
You are just being an all around arrogant, ignorant, un-American, @$$hole today, aren't you?
You sicken me.
Thank You President Bush for your offering to the Forces of Evil, Death and Destruction. And if Clinton or Bush Sr. or Reagan gave these monsters money they all have blood on their hands!
"Our aid bypasses the Taliban, who have done little to alleviate the suffering of the Afghan people, and indeed have done much to exacerbate it."
Colin Powell, Sec. of State.
"Second question was a little bit more about the $10 million in livelihoods. Basically we are pursuing sort of a two-prong strategy inside of Afghanistan. One is to provide direct humanitarian assistance to those who are most affected by this catastrophe, and so that would be health assistance through organizations like UNICEF and International Medical Corps; would be shelter programs in the camps, that sort of immediate humanitarian aid."
Leonard Rogers, Deputy Assistant Administrator, Bureau for Humanitarian Response, USAID.
"The money will all go through either the United Nations or nongovernmental organizations, and some of those nongovernmentals are American organizations like CARE and International Medical Corps."
Leonard Rogers, Deputy Assistant Administrator, Bureau for Humanitarian Response, USAID;.
"U.S. aid to Afghanistan bypasses the ruling Taliban militia, which controls the bulk of the country but has no official relationship with the United States because of its alleged role as a sponsor of terrorism."
AP Article on Aid
"The new aid commitment was welcomed by the Feminist Majority Foundation, which has been urging an increase of humanitarian assistance to Afghanis, especially to women and children."

Cry me a river, Traitor-boy.
Internationalists & Drug Warriors like you FINANCED these reprehensible scumbags. With your $43 million "anti-drug" aid packages to Afghanistan, you cut their paychecks and padded their bank accounts for training and expertise.
You are an INSULT and a TRAITOR to Real American Patriotism, George-Washington-defined:
The great rule of conduct for us, in regard to foreign nations, is, in extending our commercial relations, to have with them as little political connection as possible. So far as we have already formed engagements, let them be fulfilled with perfect good faith. Here let us stop.
-- President George Washington, Farewell Address
For the love of your country and countrymen WAKE UP.
Your policies are BLIND, ARROGANT, AND STUPID and even when you succeed in getting 10,000 of your fellow citizens killed by psychopaths who were on YOUR payroll, you still have no shame.
Your internationalist policies shoot down missionaries, bomb churches, starve children, and give money to mass murderers.
That is who you are.
"In March 1985, President Reagan signed National Security Decision Directive 166, ...[which] authorize[d] stepped-up covert military aid to the mujahideen, and it made clear that the secret Afghan war had a new goal: to defeat Soviet troops in Afghanistan through covert action and encourage a Soviet withdrawal. The new covert U.S. assistance began with a dramatic increase in arms supplies ? a steady rise to 65,000 tons annually by 1987, ... as well as a "ceaseless stream" of CIA and Pentagon specialists who traveled to the secret headquarters of Pakistan's ISI on the main road near Rawalpindi, Pakistan. There the CIA specialists met with Pakistani intelligence officers to help plan operations for the Afghan rebels."4
The history of the drug trade in Central Asia is intimately related to the CIA's covert operations. Prior to the Soviet-Afghan war, opium production in Afghanistan and Pakistan was directed to small regional markets. There was no local production of heroin.11 In this regard, Alfred McCoy's study confirms that within two years of the onslaught of the CIA operation in Afghanistan, "the Pakistan-Afghanistan borderlands became the world's top heroin producer, supplying 60 percent of US demand. In Pakistan, the heroin-addict population went from near zero in 1979... to 1.2 million by 1985 ? a much steeper rise than in any other nation":12
The conclusions you attempt to draw are of the most vile.
I oppose the federal WOD, but I do not accuse it of aiding the terrorist attack and killing our citizens. That is stupidity, and heartless.
Your denial of the relevant facts doesn't impress me.
See #36.
The reluctance of the people to demand changes remains the government's strongest card, according to Foreign Minister Wakil Ahmad Mutawakil, a member of the Taliban's liberal wing. "If we do not serve the people, we are in danger. Nobody from outside can overthrow us, only the people could," he said recently.
Mohammad Yakub, a trader in Jalalabad, agrees. "There is no justice. In a quarrel over land those win who are close to the Taliban. The Taliban make their own people officials even though they are not experts. People are angry, but not angry enough for an uprising," he said. Khalid Khan, an unemployed druggist in Kabul, said an uprising would effect few changes. "The people are angry," he said, "but where is the power that could replace the Taliban?"

But Aid from US Internationalists & Drug Warriors props up their tottering Regime. India Express calls it "appeasement towards Hitler"
Yet, in the name of its war against opium, the Bush administration has been providing aid to the Taliban regime, reportedly to the tune of $43 million. Unless, the UN supported sanctions against the Taliban receive worldwide support, we shall be guilty of committing a historical mistake as costly as Chamberlains policy of appeasement towards Hitler. -- (Butchers of Bamiyan, The Indian Express May 25, 2001)
And I am to blame my own government for attempting to lessen that number?!?!?!?! what the hell are you on.
I blame our gov. under Clinton for not going after Bin Laden. That is all. To aid any region in order to cut it's supply of death to our nation is rational, it just is not constitutional.
