I know that this is a very emotional time for us and we are filled with unprecedented anger but we must not stop thinking.

I learned a useful saying while traveling in the Mid-East:

When a caravan leaves the village all the village dogs bark -- but caravans do not stop for barking dogs.

The British author of this posted article is a barking dog and his supporters on this thread are its fleas.

The great majority of the British public will support Prime Minister Blair's determination to participate -- militarily -- with the United States.

So will the people in the rest of NATO. So will the people of Russia, China, India and France, countries headed by rational intelligent leaders who will (I predict) support or even assist our military in its anti-terroristic efforts.

As those events unfold in coming weeks, this barking dog and its fleas will be remembered, if at all, as irrelevancies.

Muslims have been attacking westerners with barbaric ruthlessness since the 7th century. The psychotic "hatred" pre-dates the British colonization of America! While barbaric acts of suicidal terrorism like the attacks in NY are an expression of a general condition of evil, it will not be necessary to curb everyone's civil liberties to combat these. Middle Eastern fundamentalists with sociopathic tendencies don't need to be in the U.S. and they should not permitted on U.S. airlines. Common sense would have prevented the recent attacks. It needs to prevail now. "Civilization" requires a little of it every now and then.

And by the way, we know exactly why you and your terrorist friends hate us.

Hate begins here, in the flagrant injustice and violence of daily life, in the corruption of the rich and the mindless poverty of the poor, in the absence of proper social mechanisms to do anything about it. And who is responsible for this? It requires a rather special character to be able to lay the blame for social failure where it properly belongs, on the people who comprise one’s own society. Much easier, more satisfying, to blame everybody except oneself. And haven’t Westerners themselves been putting their shoulders to that wheel by reiterating for many years that the plight of Arabs and Muslims has nothing to do with their own conduct or culture, but only with colonialism, imperialism, capitalism, Zionism, globalization? And that we are, therefore, guilty for whatever they may do?

Now let me see. In the last 30 years we have:
Defended two muslim countries Kuwait and Saudi Arabia against invasion.
Used our troops to help protect the muslim minority in Kosovo.
Helped Pakistan against India and China.
Helped Afganistan throw out the Russians.
Protected Arab tankers in the Gulf against Iran.
Helped the Kurds when they were being exterminated by Iraq.
Have Egypt and Pakistan near the top in foriegn aid.
And these are just what pop too the top of my head.

BUT we are accused of being completely one sided against "Muslims", because we won't allow Isreal to be exterminated.

Bullshit. We need to look very carefully at just who our friends really are. If the Muslim world wants to declare war on US, we should act accordingly. Next time they need help they can kiss our ........

You're wasting your time, getoffmylawn. Most of the people on this forum aren't interest in reason or logic. They are filled with hatred and revenge. Most of them probably didn't take the time to read your entire post. Because it doesn't conform to their world view that perceives all Arabs as wild-eyed anti-American terrorists.

This guys may be a leftie but there is much truth to what he says.

Many people around the world hate Americans and Americans can't see why.

We must ask ourselves why. Hate doesn't come out of nowhere.

Many here in FreeRepublic condemned the US attacks on Yugoslavia and the bombings in Sudan. The Serbs hate Americans for that. The Sudanese hate Americans for that. That is a totally rational and normal reaction for them. The Serbs don't hate us because they envy our "success" and "freedom". They hate us because our government bombed their cities and killed their women and children. I think that those of you here who in the past condemned the bombings of Serbia and Sudan can understand why Serbs and Sudanese hate us.

But of course, those incidents are not the cause of these latest attacks. There is a seething hatred among Muslims for the US. And it is because of the mindless support that the US gives to Israel.

Those Muslims don't hate us because we are "successful" or "free". They don't envy us because they view us, not without cause, as morally decadent with rampant "gay rights", feminism and abortion. They hate us because of our support for Zionism. I have said it before here that Islamic terrorism is caused by Zionism and nobody listens. The US can go out and get revenge for whoever did this. But the root of it all, US support for Israel remains, and so long as that remains the terorrism problem will continue.

We can get as much revebge as we want. If we find out that Afghanistan is sheltering Bin Laden we could turn Afghanistan into a radioactive wasteland. But the terrorism will continue. The proof of this is Israel. Israel has been getting revenge for decades. It deals harshly with terrorism, without any of the civil libertarian sillyness, but yet it suffers more terorrist attacks than any nation on Earth. It is because no matter how much Israel retaliates the root cause of the terrorism, Zionist religious fundamentalism, remains.

I say we should just let the Islamic religious fundamentalists and the Zionist religious fundamentalists kill each other if they want. We shouldn't meddle in their religious disputes. So long as we meddle in the disputes of religious fanatics we are going to be targets of terrorist religious fanatics.

Anyway, where is the outrage for the 1 million per year American victims of abortion?

And what about the little emerging fact that most of the actual perpetrators may have been Saudi Arabian citizens, among the wealthies benefactors of the little arrangement between them, the CIA, and MI6? What does that do to the theory about why we're hated by everyone we've already put blood, sweat, and tears into helping move from spears to plowshares?

I'm sure that at the outbreak of WWII, there were plenty of analysts, many right here in America, who would be saying the same thing in support of the Japanese and the German National Socialists. Come to think of it, there WERE plenty of them...for the first few months. Then their comments dissappeared, and lo and behold, four years later the world emerged, for good or bad, a VERY different place.

Looks as if a similar monumental change doesn't happen again, however much good or bad one's judgement may impune to those changes, the next set of body counts will be in six, seven, or even eight figures.

With those numbers in mind, if I were this writer, even if I dispised the NWO, I'd start reporting about how to prevent leaf rot on summer roses, rather than inflame this misunderstanding between the developed and developing world even more. Too late for analysis. Just too damn late.

It's very simple. The Arabs believe Israel is THEIRS, according to the promise of God. However the Israelis were promised the land by God according to Genesis 16 & 17. Since then there has been continual strife but the Arabs couldn't get organized enough until Mohammed untied them into a monotheistic religion and claimed Ishmael was the chosen son, not Isaac. (error in later generations of copying you know). If we're friends with Israel, we're enemies with Arabs, it will always be so. So shall we turn our back on Israel then?

While it touches some interesting points, apparently by accident, by and large it is silly.

If nothing else, I give you credit for the guts to post this article here. We do indeed need to examine the way we treat other countries, and how that treatment permits us to pursue our relatively carefree lifestyles (although that has surely ended). Now may not be the time for this, though. No matter what our flaws, right now we need to be unified and we need to SEVERELY PUNISH whoever did this.

Let's see now, getoffmylawn added to the list of seditious apologists for terrorists. Welcome comrade of AppyPappy, stuartrc, and DarthReagan.

When confronted with wild dogs and savages, the gelded socialist sociologists teach that it is best to put up a big fence, hide your belongings, cover your eyes, and try to understand them.

Not anymore. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

The islamic nations must go the way of Troy, Carthage, and Azteca.

If this is the kind of garbage you read, it's obvious that you are too much of an idiot to worry about thinking about anything. Do you ask the reasons why Son of Sam murdered people? No, you off the f*&%&r. End of story. Radical Islam is the Son of Sam of social movements. The people who are part of this religion, or supporter of it, are useful only as fertilizer for next year's crops.

"What could some political thing have to do with blowing up office buildings during working hours?" one bewildered New Yorker asked yesterday."

The pure ignorance of the average american CNN-couch-potatoe is just amazing! So this guy doesn't remember the US lead NATO bombing of the Belgrade TV station. Was that something different? It was an act of state terrorism, that ended in the deaths of innocent people doing their job.

If the father of the killed make-up girl working for the Belgrade TV station decided to hijack an airplane and slam it in the WTC, would this guy then still ask the same question?

Blowing up buildings in other countries by whatever means, is not an "political thing"! The sad thing is, even after the disaster some people won't get it.

"They"? You can't generalize from U.S. foreign policy, over many administrations, to the diverse ranges of people comprising U.S. civilians. All "Americans" are hated and blamed because of U.S. foreign policies? That's ridiculous. There were most likely many many people killed on Tuesday who question and oppose various political policies of our federal government. Maybe the swarthy barbarians are morons as well as monsters.

Tripe. The only thing it is necessary to see is that the people who did this and the those who support them are our enemies and must be hunted down and destroyed.

This is distracting crap. The nations angry at us are lead by evil leaders whose people have no say. So this whole tripe on "nations" hating us is irrelevant and premised on false assumptions.

for every "terror network" that is rooted out, another will emerge - until the injustices and inequalities that produce them are addressed.

"For every robber that is punished, another will emerge until all of us are financially equal."

Standard regurgitated socialist U.N. tripe from the most liberal mouthpiece in the U.K.
