I truly don't remember writing on this thread. I think I was in shock at the time and trying to get out info to other FReepers and trying to find a few friends in NYC.
I remember Cyber came home early that day, and we were sitting on our bed watching the news. We heard of BKO's demise -- no, not demise, murder. Tears were rolling down our faces. There were no words to be spoken. That beautiful Barbara murdered?

Has any consideration ever been given of locking the 9/11 threads? These occasional random rebumpings not only risk raising false alarms on the Latest Posts page (if I see "Plane hits [anything]!" on the Latest Posts list, my first thought is "Oh crap, it happened AGAIN!?!?"), but they also somehow lessen, IMHO, a unique snapshot of a moment in time.

Do you really think that, Timesink? It will be two years in 11 days. I don't think anyone has recovered from that horrible time.
When I reread the thread, the first thing I wanted to do was communicate to Dog. Maybe I'm wrong. It won't be the first time.

Yes, I really do think that. I know the following is an wildly over-the-top comparison, but it's all I can think of at the moment (it's been a long day): I kind of feel that it's like coming across an undiscovered original copy of the Declaration of Independence and then scribbling new notes at the bottom of it saying things like, "Thanks Mr. Jefferson! This turned out to be a great idea! --TS 9/1/2003!" The sentiment is nice, but it shouldn't be written on a priceless, sacred document.
I'm certainly not against discussing 9/11 any more; I just wish we'd start new threads to do it.
All IMHO, of course. I'm not horrified to see new posts in these threads; I would merely prefer to see them locked out of respect for the unique moments they represented. I know it probably won't happen anyway, if it hasn't already at some point in the past two years.

And before anyone says anything: Yes, I realize the irony of posting in the thread suggesting that nobody post in the thread any more. *grin*

Yes, you have a great sense of humor, thank goodness.

Thanks for the post, Ronnie. Rereading reminds me that Donald Rumsfield has a very personal reason to fight this war. He was in the Penatgon when the plane hit. He was one of the rescuers. Can he ever forget?

9/11/04: Three years have passed. The war still rages. A vast and manipulative Fifth Column enemy with-in is allied with the IslamoFascists. Al Queda mass murders children and unarmmed civilians in Russia, India, Thailand, Sudan, Israel, Iraq, and the Phillipines. Progress on all fronts in the war is being made.

I posted the following soon after 9-11 somewhere else on FR.
____________________________
This might be a good place to add more fuel to the fire. The minds gets a little blurry even after a SEE (Significant Emotional Event), but there are certain aspects of memory that are imprinted permanently.
On the morning of 9-11 I was with three other people on the approach to the 14th St. bridge going into DC. The traffic was 'stop and go,' and we were in the far right hand lane. I was in the right rear seat. We were aware of the two planes hitting the WTC and we had the radio tuned to WMAL. The Pentagon was off to our left rear. There were reports of planes heading towards Washington DC. Our vision to the front was unobstructed and I remember that I kept repeating, "The MF'rs are going to hit something."
There was no air traffic that any of us could see. I felt the blast before I turned to my left to see the fireball on the opposite side of the Pentagon. We all knew instantly it had been an airplane that hit, even though none of us had seen it making it's approach from behind us.
My next thought was that I did not want to get on the bridge. With some persuading, we all agreed that we should make the last turn-off to the right, which we did. From there we ended up dodging fire trucks, police cars and other emergency vehicles.
Here is the image I want to pass along: Before making the right turn to get off of the approach to the bridge, I remember looking to the left up the Potomac River. I believe I commented at the time, "What is that airplane doing taking off from National Airport?" What I was looking at was the rear of a four engine airplane that was flying the river departure path up the Potomac. I used to fly the BAe 146, which is a high wing, T-tail, with four engines under the wings. It was the same configuration. The C-141 and C-5 have the same profile. Four engine airplanes are prohibited from using National. To this day I don't know what that was about?

O Lord Jesus Christ, King of glory, deliver the souls of all the faithful departed from the pains of hell and from the bottomless pit; deliver them out of the lions mouth, lest hell should swallow them up, lest they fall into the outer darkness; but let Thy standard-bearer, Saint Michael, bring them back into Thy holy light, which Thou didst promise of old to Abraham and to his seed.
