A question. Were any of the Manson Family ever given the death penalty? If they were, did they get off during the time frame that the death penalty was abolished? I cant't remember. I read Helter Skelter, but it has been many years.
Correct - all were given death penalties, and all were automatically changed to life sentences (with parole an option) when the death penalty was abolished. I understand Manson hasn't attended a parole hearing in years, as he knows it won't happen, but Watson and the women routinely hold on to the glimmer of hope that eventually what they did will be forgotten. Scary thought, but hopefully their continued existence serves as a lesson to others.
He's alive today because... plain and simple... left wing is on his side. The best friend of mass murderers and serial killers (and in this case their directors) are the bleeding hearts.
Its a damn shame that once the death penalty is reinstated that the outcome can't be reversed to the original sentence!
The "Onion Field" cop killers got off too because of the overturning of the death penalty in California.
Judge Rose Bird overturned the death penalty in this and many cases...appointed by Jerry Brown who also vetoed bullet proof vests for police officers.

When Charlie was first incarcerated, I was one of his jailers. During the trial, I was the one that drove the women back and forth to court. None of them should stealing oxygen now, nor for the past 30 years.
