FReepers of many talents, *Merry Christmas!*
That said, I need help in the idea department.
I have in my garage, an outdoor Nativity set of 11 pieces. Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, an Angel, 3 Wise Men, a shepherd boy, a donkey, a cow, and a lamb or two. At present I do not have a Manger. Displaying the figures without a Manger seems so incomplete to me. Therefore, I want to build a Manger for my front yard; one that could be broken down or easily stored during the spring, summer and fall. I thought the Internet would have some ideas, but that hasn't panned out.
So...I have come to you, dear FReepers. I should also mention that I am a female with no building experience, but I do have one or two people in mind who will probably assist me if I cry loud enough. I'd like to try this first, myself.
I hope you all can help me!
FReegards! :)
Thank you! Will go there tomorrow! :)
Hope it's ok to ask this (related) question....
Does anyone know the best (and least expensive) store to buy an outdoor nativity scene? I was just going to have Jesus, Mary, and Joseph figures, not the entire scene (for cost reasons).
I've checked many online stores, and they are expensive--plus you have to pay shipping. Even Ebay had pretty steep shipping costs.
Guess I should have been looking at garage sales back in the summer, but just didn't think of it.
I really want to put up an outdoor nativity scene this year. I'm tired of seeing Frosty and Santa everywhere in town.
Seems like Home Depot and the other major retailers don't carry nativities. Was just hoping some Freeper might know just the place to get a good deal on one.
FReepmail...
I know this is too late for this year, but maybe it'll help next year. I had the same problem - a bunch of people with no shelter; I searched for plans for a stable on the internet but found none...so I designed my own. I have a materials list, step-by step instructions and photos to help along:

Good luck, and God bless!
Wow, aren't you sweet???
First of all...*welcome* to FR!! And second of all...your Manger is fabulous! How were you able to figure all that out? I am definitely saving this page (I hope you are planning on keeping it around for at least this year) and will definitely give it a try! Thank you soooo much! I am still amazed that there weren't any plans online.
That said, though...this will give you a chuckle. Someone here mentioned the idea of maybe using some pallets, and when the final pieces of this Nativity set arrived at my door, they were dropped of...guess what...on a pallet! My husband and I were running out of time, so we pulled out some nails, moved some boards, added some scrap wood from the garage, and wouldn't you know...our display won 3rd prize in the neighborhood contest! Lol! The homeowners' prize committee (lol!) even gave us one hundred fifty smackeroos!
We will definitely need a "real" Manger for next year, and your plans look very well thought out! The pictures help me tremendously, too!
Again...thank you sooo much!!! I do hope you might stick around FR a bit, too!!
Take care!! :)
Thanks :-) Glad you liked it.
The page will be around for awhile and it will be available all year, not just around Christmas.
Peace
Where can I buy this stable as posted Dec. 05 for $285.
I would like the plans for a stable for our nativity scene.I saw your posting on Jan 06.
We bought beautiful Nativity Figures from Sam’s club last year and a stable would only complete the scene. I understand you have a list of materials,step-by-step instructions and photos. Your responce would be greatly appreciated.
Greatfully yours
Here’s a variety:

The one pictured back in 2005 appears to be sold out. There is a comparably sized one...but unfortunately it costs $395.
Good luck with your manger.
