HOWELL, Mich., April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Relocate-America, a web site assisting consumers in finding communities that best fit their family's needs, announces the release of "America's Top 100 Places to Live" for 2005. The list can be found at http://www.Relocate-America.com , which offers consumers an abundance of community information and links to top real estate professionals throughout the U.S. Cities making the list are considered for inclusion on the list by first being nominated by a current or past resident, or other individuals familiar with the community's benefits. They submit a brief description that is reviewed by Relocate-America's editorial team for compelling reasons on what makes the community a special place to live. Such descriptions often include references to a community's:

-- Great people and neighbors -- Serenity, peace and quiet -- Beauty of area -- Great Schools -- Safety for children -- Low crime rates -- Activities, such as museums, theaters and sports -- Economic health, with employment opportunities and affordable housing

"At HomeRoute we are pleased with the continued growth of Relocate- America's Annual 'America's Top 100 Places to Live' List. It gives communities a sense of pride and accomplishment when making the list," says Steve Nickerson, CEO & President of HomeRoute. "As a result we've helped connect 1000s of relocating consumers with their next hometown. It is fun & rewarding to be a part of that." The nominated towns then are put through an editorial process conducted by HomeRoute. Each nominated city is compared against each other in crime rates, employment statistics, housing & economic data for the past year as well as a non-scientific study of what makes the community a great place to live according to its nomination ballots and the total number of consumer inquiries for the area as well. After all is reviewed, the Top 100 cities are selected to make the list. From the Top 100, the Top 10 communities are ranked based on the total number of nominations. The remaining 90 are compiled alphabetically to equally recognize those top communities on the list. Each year thousands of communities across the U.S. are nominated and considered for the list.

Except for the "no income tax state "
You have given a perfect description of NYC.
Best private schools in the world
Very low crime rate
Excellent hospitals more Board Certified physicians per capita than any place on Earth
Low or no risk of natural disasters.

"I see absolutely NO attempt here to correlate some of THE MOST important things to look for in a community:

LOCATION IN A NO-INCOME TAX STATE like TN, FL, NH, etc.

LOW-CRIME RATES

AVAILABILITY OF HIGH-QUALITY PRIVATE SCHOOLS

AVAILABILITY OF HIGH-ACCREDITATION HOSPITALS

LOW RISK OF FLOODS, TORNADOES, EARTHQUAKES, OTHER NATURAL DISASTERS "

SSSsssshhhh! Don't say that stuff too loudly. I know what Auburn is like. I've lived here since 1962. But I do NOT want those pushy yankee types coming here and screwing the place up.

NOTICE TO ALL: Disregard what Chris said in his post. He really doesn't know what he's talking about. Every fall an unruly crowd gathers to watch violent activity each week. Then, after that the people take to the streets and riot in the main intersection. YOU DO NOT WANT THAT TO BE PART OF YOUR CHILDREN''S LIFE. DO NOT MOVE TO AUBURN.

I thought Worcester was the Paris of the 80's. I guess it is the Faluja of the 05's.
Without Coney Island Hot Dog, Ralph's and Vincent's, why even have a Worcester?

You are porbably right. I would not move anywhere in Florida: they have mass evacuations, Judge Greer, Michael Schiavo as a nurse, etc.

These are useful listings since they encourge yuppies, the beautiful people and "progressives" to oftentimes rush to many of these locations - thus leaving other areas and regions less contaminated.

Having one's family close-by and not being a life-long transient do have advantages. There is also this thing called committment.

Concerning Yellow Springs, OH, it is an interesting town. I usually get there a couple of times each year. I usually ride the bike trail that goes through there and enjoy a good freak show at the college - Antioch College.

I was very disapointed that the top 100 had so many locations in Texas. We don't need any more damnyankees moving down here.

These lists are becoming more ridiculous with every one that is published. I think a good rule of thumb would be to avoid relocating to any town or area listed on a "10 best" or "100 best" list, and to choose your next place of residence from a "10 worst" or "100 worst" list.

Apparently the people who make these lists have a rather strange notion of what makes a town or region a pleasant and beneficial place to live. Or more likely, they are not wholly adverse to accepting, uhhh let's just say tangible tokens of gratitude, from real estate promoters and/or chambers of commerce for a favorable ranking.

Ok, my mistake. It was on the list of top 100. Still surprising!

Yuma is the closest thing to the Middle East that you can experience here. It's hotter than hell, and nobody speaks English.
