I truly understand the resentment of the Gen Xer's to the stereotypical boomers - but not all of us are so bad. In fact this article describes my husband (1955) and I (1960) in very many ways. As well as most of our friends.

Our daughter is now in 1st grade and I am going to start looking for a part-time job. I willingly made the decision to move in order to give her a better education, knowing full well that the work I had done for more than 15 years would not only not be in demand, but totally non-existant in the area we chose to move.

Gabz, my hubby is technically on the tail end in 61 too and he is a solid, upstanding kind of guy. I think we know not all boomers were like this, but it seems like a larger percentage then in other generations were self-absorbed ninnies;-) Many more, like yourself, hold to traditional values and are raising good children. I'd consider too when you decided to have children. My oldest is also in first grade and I'm an xer. Perhaps you related more to this generation to begin with--its values and all that.

It describes me also (1961). But it only describes me since I got saved back in 1986. Prior to that I was a typical boomer, self centered, greedy and just looking out for me.

It's amazing the change that finding Jesus (and making Him your Savior) will work in your life.

I'm a little late to this conversation, but when I read your post, you could have been describing my family!

My husband (1955) and I (1960) have a son in 2nd grade.

We moved away from Minneapolis this summer to a small town to give him a better education.

I gave up a 15 year career when he was two-years-old to be a stay at home mom.

Now I'm looking for a part-time job and there's definately nothing out here in my field.

I wouldn't change a thing about our decisions. (Wish I could've stopped working when he was born though. I had a contract to fulfill)

Liberal Baby Boomers... Obviously a large portion of the boomers are good folks.... Isn't Bush a Boomer?
