The Village Idiots (aka City Council) finding yet another way to kill the city. Northern Kentucky leaders once again laugh uproariously.
Okay cin, I'll try to spell it out for you.
Here is the definition of fascism:
Main Entry: fas·cism
Pronunciation: 'fa-"shi-z&m also 'fa-"si-
Function: noun
Etymology: Italian fascismo, from fascio bundle, fasces, group, from Latin fascis bundle & fasces fasces
1 often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2 : a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control <early instances of army fascism and brutality
Please take note of "severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition" in the first definition.
Now, if the gov't telling PRIVATE property owners what they can and cannot do on their own PRIVATE property is not EXACTLY what definition #1 above states then I guess you're never going to understand and I'm wasting my time trying to enlighten you.
This country is based in INDIVIDUAL freedoms. Here is the catch, along with freedom comes responsibility. You are FREE to own a firearm you are RESPONSIBLE to ensure that it is not used for illegal purposes. Freedom and Responsibility go hand in hand. Whats happening in this country now is there are some people who do not want the responsibility that goes along with the freedoms that they take for granted every day. They are willing to give up those freedoms so they dont have to deal with the responsibility. Foolish, dangerous, and childish.
Heres the danger: There are people like Hitlery Klintooon who would love to take away our hard earned freedoms. What enables her/it to thrive is people who dont want to take responsibility for their own actions and are perfectly willing to let our freedoms disappear.
These smoking bans are leading us in that direction. Thats dangerous. I dont care if you smoke or not. THE GOVT HAS NO AUTHORITY TO REGUALTE WHAT PEOPLE DO WITH THEIR OWN PRIVATE PROPERTY. Period.
Well said and RIGHT ON!
EASY now! LOL!
These were local concilmen. Elected! No dictator, no severe economic or social regimentation nor forcible suppression of the opposition.
NO FASCISM
REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT AS OUR FOUNDERS DESIGNED
Yes it should and I apologize if I appeared to come down too hard on you. Just keep in mind that these threads are pro-smoking threads and inhabited by people who both smoke and don't smoke but share the common denominator of hatred of an ever increasing control over our lives by a now over zealous and out of control government bureaucracy...... Especially at the local level!
FWIW, If I'm ever in your cafe, I'll sit at the very back under the fan as long as you let me smoke.....
cin, cin, cin,
You just don't get it, probably never will.
This slow encroachment on our freedoms will eventually tear this country apart.
First, the gov't dictates what PRIVATE property owners can do on their own PRIVATE property. Where does it end cin? Where?
When the gov't thinks it can tell me what I can and cannot do in my own home it will be time for war...civil war. People like you are hastening that day.
BWAHAAAAAA!!
You go, Lioness!
I don't smoke anything, She; so, it's not as if I'm taking one side or the other, per se.
Yet I find it damned curious how the city of Lexington, KY banned smoking in public places within city limits, & insodoing closed down a private "cigar bar" type of place.
I mean it wasn't as if nonsmokers would've been going into the place anyway, is it?
Now the city of Lexington has another empty building -- in their already decrepid downtown -- & a citizen who's outa work.
>?<
...we live in some strange times.
