Back to my point about Maine. This coming from a state that sent a child into the home of a DHS worker who duct taped the child in a basement causing the child's death. I think they have some major house cleaning of their own to do.

They hire caring, stable people to work with kids there.

I maintain that a parent that needlessly smokes, eats too many donuts, drinks cola or alcohol, bites their nails, only takes a shower once a week, drives to fast etc. in front of their child causes them to take unnecessary risks and such a parent is selfish and unable to put others well being ahead of their own. Its abusive.....so I guess all this abuse needs to be stopped by the Nanny Police according to your way of thinking????????

I feel for you kids. I was raised in a smoking household.........my hubby and I both smoked during my pregnancy, during my nursing period and after we brought our baby home. We never blew smoke in our baby's face, so don't start that!
Our friends would come over and THEY smoked.
My daugher is now married, and she and her hubby both smoke. My daughter goes to the gym several times a week and is strong as a bull. They have their own baby now, who is VERY healthy!
So YOUR pity is wasted on THIS family!

You love junk science, don't you? Once again, another anti-smoker is born through the lies and spin of "Junk Science." I think they hate smokers so much that they just LOVE holding this junk over our heads. Don't you?

Since you cannot refute the facts, you resort to slurs. Here's a whole PAGE about SHS to debunk your beliefs:
Second Hand Smoke Frauds
Take time to read some of it. It might just show you how silly your beliefs are!

Most flatlanders vent the smoke and don't fill the room with smoke from their woodstove. I guess its different for ME folks. And most smokers have air cleaners in their homes today...........

Smoking causes early death, pure and simple. Or are all the life insurance companies missing a huge market ? Gee.........my family died from old age and THEY smoked. And look at ME! I'm still kicking and "I" smoke. Your logic is baseless.

Tell me about the freedom of the infant strapped to a car seat in an auto filled with smoke. How about infants strapped to a car seat in 85 degree temperatures with the windows up while the parents runs in to do shopping............forgetting that their own baby is still in the car, huh!

A British study found that SIDS deaths could be reduced by two-thirds if parents did not smoke.***That's a pretty bold statement. To which study are you referring?
Phipps Y. Cohe, the Public Affairs Director of The Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Alliance, sent a letter to Banzhaf and ASH stating that they were opposed to ASH's statements that environmental tobacco smoke was a cause of SIDS. He further stated that there is no known cause to SIDS and that while they supported ASH's efforts to bring attention to the risks of ETS exposure, they could not condone their method of identifying hypothesis as fact.

Vent it where? Right into your neighbor's house? Burning issues abound.

Well, that's a grand large-picture view; sort of like Protestants not having to baptize their babies at birth.
