Gee, you actually already knew the details about how, when, and by whom the pre-Christian holiday originated, and the Christian holiday was linked to it? Somehow I don't think so.

Yes, most people know that the Christian holiday co-opted the pre-existing pre-Christian holiday. But the above article adds to our knowledge about the exact manner in which that occurred.

LOL. I agree. The church went into "can't beat em, join em" mode and it worked beautifully.

This year we got gifts from several Jewish people, 2 Buddist, 2 Hindus, a Shinto and a Muslim.

Why are you so upset at Blam? Its an interesting article and I didnt find it tried to discount or belittle Christian Christmas at all. Most of Christian Holidays are around the same time as Pagan Holidays..it probably seen as a good way to convert Pagans to Christianity..hence keeping certain Pagan customs such as the Christmas tree, yule log and even the Easter Egg (Ostera) Whats the big deal?
