I bet they go after the mom and pops like they went after Billy and Whitey Bulger, billion dollar thief at the Big did, the way Ted Kennedys vehicular manslaughter was investigated.
(insert sounds of crickets here)

I remember reading on the internet that a can of Bugler costs five bills in the hoosegow, or at least some of them. After hearing the Paul Harvery piece on the air, I can see why, sort of.
The tobacco nazis are just a small part of it, but I was just thinking how amazing how quickly the government stranglehold was clenched around everyones neck. In just a few decades we went from a fairly free albeit over-taxed country to a regulatory, litigious PC nightmare from top to bottom, state, federal and local. It's insidious and will only get worse.

Oh my God,that pic of Fat Ted is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time----serious liver distension, wouldn't you say?
I live in the corrupt state of Massachusetts and have never voted for this guy but he keeps getting elected by all the Mass libs.
Every smoker I know personally gets their cigs in New Hampshire or from the Native Americans. The stupid Department of Revenue doesn't realize that every time they add on more taxes they are shooting themselves in the foot.

Now let's be fair about this. Sure the taxes are high but look at all the benenfits the people of the state get. Let me point out one shining example....The Big Dig. I know it's not finished yet, but it will be in 2005, maybe. And, so far it's only cost 14.7 BILLION. Look at it this way, for what they'be paid for a usless hole in the ground, one could almost rebuild Afghanistan and Iraq.
Realize that with today's technology fewer workers are required to complete this project. Where would we have found the additional necessary government employees for our airports...?

Mass is awfully close to Maine. The stink from both states keep rubbing off on one another over this cigarette issue.

I'm a stubborn redhead. We had HBO. They kept raising it. I said "If they raise it one more time, they can take it back." Well, they raised it one more time and I told them where to stick it.
When my cigarettes went up to $45-$50 dollars for ONE carton, I found friends in here that suggested rolling my own. I have been doing that for three years now, and I love it. And I love being able to spend the extra money on something else, and still enjoy my 'legal' habit.

It's not about buying the Big Dig....its about buying the DIGGERS.
The Massachusetts Massa likes to have lots of slaves on his plantation who will keep voting the Massa (Ted Kennedy) back into office.
Even better, get all the folks to pay for it..especially those who don't want to.

Cigarette revenues must be off. I wonder why. Because myopic, busybody state politicians are incapable of understanding basic economics.
Hey, I got an idea! Big Tobacco should stop making cigarettes altogether. What will the hypocrites do then?

Oh, you mean the "informal" economy? Yes..the one where "I" shop ;-)
I mean seriously, I can go down to the Maryland Wawa and get cigs for $44 a carton or I can pick up a carton in Virginia for $23...
hmm..now which one should I use?

What about the National Cathedral?
"On September 29, 1907, the foundation stone was laid...[It was to become] the longest running construction site in the nation's capital....
In 1912, Bethlehem Chapel, opened for services...The completion of the west towers in September 1990 marked the end of eighty-three years of construction."
=============
Still and all, I suppose it was worth the weight since it does have this:

An example of cheap smokes online:
Tucson - made in USA - $9.45 If they taxed chocolate like they do cigarettes, women with pitchforks and torches would be storming state capitols all over the country!
