Don't let him scare you away.
I'll beat him for you if you want.

"The Mourning Dove mourns my love,
for my love has gone away.
Loneliness unfurled,
I've colored my world in hues of blue & gray.
Silenced cries, despairing sighs,
I long for a brighter day..."

I like the poem the way it is, but
I tend to write longer poems, so it
looks unfinished to me. The problem
is I can't think of any satisfactory
rhymes to continue it with.

None of the other kids my age would
be able to tell you that, so I'm proud
of my accomplishment... even if you
were just picking at me.

The Dragon Flies Lair

If you want you can post your poetry on the Dragon Flies Lair and share it with other poets. I'm sure BentFeather would love to see your poetry.

I couldn't list Henry the 8th's wives. I wasn't picking on you, I just knew you'd answer my post with the list :-)

Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes fought at Antietam. Roughly on a line from the north end of Burnsides Bridge and rising up the steep grade to he ridge top where the town of Sharpsburg was laid out, there's a small monument indicating where he was wounded. I think he was in a New York brigade; but I cannot recall the details.

The only reason I answered with
the list is 'cause my post would've
been too short by my standards otherwise.
I'm picky when it comes to my posts.

I don't really like sharing my
poetry with other poets & such.
I fear criticism... besides I
don't really like most of my poetry.
I'm only proud of a few & they're
rather dark & depressing which I think
is the reason my brother compares me to Poe.
I suppose I could give it a whirl though.

Thanks, it just doesn't
look finished to me.
The DD thread isn't THAT bad.
I wander there at least every
other day if not every day.
I have nothing better to do.
... Are you sure you don't
want me to beat him?
I warn him all the time about
messing with stuff, but he doesn't
listen, so I assure you he had gotten
what he deserved.

Thanks for the link and info on Oliver Wendell Holmes.

The most famous Harvard man of the Twentieth Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., was a towering figure in American jurisprudence, and one of the Twentieth Century's most influential public figures. Holmes the soldier served with distinction, surviving three wounds and rising to the rank of Captain in the Twentieth Massachusetts Infantry.

He later served as Brevet Colonel and aide-de-camp on the staff of Sixth Corps General Horatio Wright. Holmes is of course better known as "The Great Dissenter". For thirty years, from 1902 to 1932, Holmes' brilliant intellect held sway over the US Supreme Court, and immeasurably influenced the American legal system.

According to no less an authority than The Honorable Richard Posner, present day Chief Federal Judge of the Seventh Circuit, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. was "the most illustrious figure in the history of American law".

No critques at the Dragon Flies Lair. If I can attempt haiku there and not get laughed off the thread, your poems should be just fine.

Lincoln is the tallest figure in this photo. I wonder what words he had for George "It Wouldn't Be Prudent" McClellan.

The tide of battle was red.

"Perhaps it would be prudent were I to relieve you of your command, George."

During the first month of the war on Yugoslavia, the NATO planes and cruise missiles made over 10,000 attacks. More than 2500 cruise missiles were launched and over 7,000 tons of explosives were dropped.

About 1,000 civilians, including 45 children were killed and more than 4,500 sustained serious injuries.

Hackworth termed Clark a "perfumed prince" while others simply rely on the more prosaic "horse's ass".

Clark was not able to start WWIII due to Gen Sir Jackson not opening fire on the Russians at Pristina.

Clark was, however, able to create a diversion from impeachment and the Cox Report.

As commander of Ft. Hood during Waco, Clark supplied fifteen armored vehicles, thirteen enlisted personnel and the CS cum Methyl Chloride used to gas and burn the eighty civilians.

Thanks to the convenient death of Carlos Ghigliotti, FLIR evidence of 200 rounds fired into the building was not produced.

Clark got an attaboy from Hitlery and the go ahead to be her winged monkey in the 2004 coup attempt.

a ghastly demonstration
of concentration of gore.

About her own posts..
She's very...perfectionist when it comes to how her post flows and if it has continuity.
(She does bust on me an awful lot though about 'the' being 'teh'!)

Her poetry is perpetually unfinished to her eyes.
(Kinda like me and my drawings!)
So some of them are in their fifth rewrite.
*chuckle*
I do know where she gets it from, and it can be useful.

And she does indeed have posting standards she uses for herself.
Otherwise, you hear this, "It's too short! There should be more to it! It doesn't fit! It doesn't flow!"
It is somewhat funny...
