Great thread, SAM and snippy. Very few people understand the bravery of 8th Air Force airmen. More aircrewmen died over the mainland of Europe than did Marines assaulting the beaches in the Pacific. In the entire war, an aircraft formation NEVER turned back from its target due to enemy fire.
