At least my kids learned it. My daughter is studying to be a History teacher and it seems some times she's more informed than her instuctors.

Good for your daughter! But what about the kids who are getting graded according to their political views? Has your daughter suffered from that travesty yet? I now kids who have.

You know, many times when my kids brought graded papers home from school I had to go back and correct the teachers. So many parents are so busy now that they can't do that!

I think the case of Comanche is more of a footnote deal..... Once I had told S-2, the reponse was, "Oh the horse from the movie..." It wasn't that they didn't know, it was the fact that he wasn't a Disney creation that sort of confused them... For most people, the Litte Big Horn is a battle, and the name Custer comes to the front, not a horse. Most history texts don't even mention Comanche, much less say anything about him.
SW, I am glad to hear that your daughter is following in her father's footsteps, as you seem to have a sound understanding and appreciation of history and have already taught me a thing or two since I've been following this thread. Keep up the outstanding work!

All through school and college, I hated history, and studied just enough to pass a test and promptly forgot everything soon as the test was over. But now I am gaining an appreciation for it. Thanks so much Sam for helping to 'educate' me.
