Actually, I haven't heard of it. Grandpa said he hasn't had contact with any of the flight crew since his discharge. It sure would be nice if I could find out who they were and set up a reunion.
If any of you old vets flew with Lt. Karol Bettis out of Italy, I sure would like to hear from you!

Went to the "Operation Uplink" site and checked out the "American Postcards". I looked at the bio of each of those beautiful young people who are serving. I am so proud of each one of them. Geez, I'm crying as I type this! When I see young people like that in our military, I can't help but believe that there is hope for the future of this country.

FWIW, there was a military installation named for Cpt Gentile, Gentile Air Force Station, Dayton/Kettering, OH; renamed Defense Electronics Supply (DESC), turned over during the Base Relocation fiasco to Kettering, OH, now Kettering Business Park.

The Veterans History Project is a unique opportunity for Americans of all ages and backgrounds to play an important role in the preservation of our national collective memory and to learn important lessons from the rich historical resource we have in our military veterans and civilians who served in support of the war effort.

Yes, I viewed several of those postcards. It's a very nice way to pay tribute to our fine folks serving overseas.

I think it should be posted daily too in the first few posts. So many veterans are coming into the Foxhole and they all have stories worth preserving.

Just so ya know... Post #90 was a duplicate of the Veterans History Project that I goofed up on the width and it didn't look right. So, I asked the Admin Mod to remove it. I know how you are about removed posts! hahahahaha

Thanks for the Christmas bears and music! I love music so much. I'm singing along now (off key probably... hehehehe) to the Chestnuts roasing song. I don't think that's its real name, but you know the one.
