We are talking about 166 a day based on a 30 day month so I suppose it is doable. It's just seeing the number 30,000,000 that boggles the mind.

Thanks all it's late and I really enjoyed. Sam I was in Phouc Vinh with The 75th Rangers. I can't believe how old we've gotten. I go to those vet websites and think just like the book title...We were soldiers once and young.

Thanks for sharing that story. I have a tape recorder sitting next to my uncle's chair just for those odd moments when something happens that starts him talking. I love hearing him talk about Patton....it's harder to hear him talk about the landing at Omaha Beach. I love hearing him talk about his "asshole" buddy, Shimanski. I love hearing him talk about when he brought back a gunny sack full of "momentos". He said it was very, very heavy, and as he was walking past one of the officers on the way home he dropped it. He said it made an awful loud racket and the officer asked, "What do you have in that bag, soldier?" My uncle quickly replied, "typewriters, Sir!" He picked up the bag and kept walking, hoping he would not be asked to open it up! He wasn't. When he got back he gave the momentos to guys from his unit who had come home early because of injuries.

Yes, I know you are partial to the things with wings! So am I! Since my husband was in the AirForce and my sister has her own plane. :) Besides....I love the AirForce uniforms! :)

Man that's a mean looking airplane! Is that fire coming out of the nose from its 30mm cannon?

Sam - Look!!! It's your favorite aircraft.

Really? I never did. They used to look like bus driver uniforms, now they look like airline pilot uniforms. But I do like Air Force blue better than green, kakhi or white! hahahaha

You think you have Skwerl problems! I have to send my dog up to the attic to make sure they are nesting in there! I am going to have to hire someone to come and fix the holes in the roof fascia that the nasty little things have chewed!

Jen...My mothers first cousin flew with the AVG Flying Tigers...she met him after the war on a trip down to visit Polish relatives in the U.S....Chicago I believe.
During dinner my mom tells us this story..and how this cousin hits on her at a party.
He gives her his AVG flight jacket...Mom replies..."I told him no..what did I need that dirty ole jacket for"!
A quick glance finds my dads face buried in his hands..his head turning side to side.
I lean over to dad...."We just lost $3000.00"!

Holy cow! What a treasure that flight jacket is and your mom had no clue. Oh, too bad. I hope it's in a museum now where others can appreciate the history behind it.
