In the Summer of 1967, July or August, the 77th FA was *traded* to the 4th Infantry Division and became a part of their artillery fire base support network. In return, the 25th Infantry Division [known as the *Electric Strawberries* from their division patch] got the 69th armor battalion.

If I recall correctly, the 77th was 105mm M101 wheeled tube gun artillery, capable of being slingloaded beneath cargo helocopters and becoming part of an *instant fire base* very quixckly- the *daisy cutter* and *Instant Landing Zone* bombs were developed for just such little surprises.

Accordingly, it may be worthwhile to consider both 4th Infantry and 25th Infantry Division sources of information and photos.

The 77th Field Artillery's reunion will be at Ft Sill, Oklahoma in two days or so. That might be a time to try to contact some of those foklks.

Try Military.com as well. I've had good luck locating buddies and unit history there. You'll have to do a little clickin' on the site, but once you make your way past the main page (current service news) I've found it helpful. Good luck.
