Great commercial. Shouldn’t the kid have saluted first?

The kid shouldn’t have taken his hat off while still outdoors. And he should have initiated the salute.

Not gonna criticise, me. Can’t expect civvies to ‘get’ military courtesies right, or in the right order, but I appreciate the gesture of respect toward our military & the traditional family.

Thank you for posting it EV, for I’d not have seen the commercial otherwise.

What did I do with those tissues...?

How I wish my father, a heavily-decorated WWII veteran, could have seen his splendid grandson graduate from Parris Island last year. It would have been just like this commercial.

First salute comes from the party paying the honor, second salute acknowledges. Looked like the right order to me.

Once again, the @$$hole Brigade at FR resurface. The intent of the commercial is obvious. Enjoy it for that intent and be thankful companies like Food City still care and put their thoughts out over the airwaves.

Listen up, you idiots... What we care about is that we are grateful for your service and thankful that you are here to tell about it.

What we don't care about is who should have saluted first in a video honoring all those who have served in the military. The commercial is honoring YOU and YOUR service! It's YOU, you bunch of freakin' morons, who are being honored, got it?! Your being honored by myself and the millions throughout the country who are grateful for your's and your fellow patriots' sacrifices in the name of protecting and defending our nation!!!

Sheesh, just graciously accept the gratitude, don't be dicks about it and stop showing your collective @$$es.

Uh, That is all...

.
Umm... As you were?...

psst! this button?... what do I?... how do I turn this off...?... what? oh, this bu.....

As a little background, in the Army there is no official doctrine that Medal of Honor recipients are saluted first, but it is still universally done. Even a four star general will salute a MoH recipient first.

This being said, I knew an E-6 (staff sergeant) who had been a POW in Vietnam, as well as being pretty badly tortured in the process. He intended to remain in the Army at his rank until retirement, which was allowed because of his POW status. Otherwise, he was pretty stoical about it.

Until the day a MoH recipient payed a visit to his unit. The MoH recipient had done his homework, and made it a point to hunt up the POW.

When the two met, the MoH recipient made it a point to salute the POW first.

The POW later said that until that moment, “it had never really sunk in” what being a POW meant. He said that the next several days were emotionally overwhelming.
