This morning at the National Day of Prayer breakfast, our illustrious "Teleprompter in Chief" revealed, once again, his complete unfamiliarity with our military community.
Anyone with a reasonable education through the 6th grade knows the correct pronunciation of the basic word "corps" is "core," and therefore the word "corpsman" is pronounced "coreman." The Marine Corps is pronounced Marine Core. Yet our president, who touts his education at both Columbia and Harvard, in describing a US Navy corpsman during his speech this morning, pronounced the word "corpse-man" three separate times. It was posted on You Tube, until it was yanked.
Certainly all of us who served in our fine US Navy or US Marine Corps know how to pronounce this word, as do most of the English-speaking people of the world. But this president, reading from his always present teleprompter, couldn't get it right. It's my understanding that there was little, if any, discussion of this by mainstream media today, although Fox News picked it up very quickly.
The same media hacks who slammed Bush for any verbal error give this man a pass. What a double-standard. What hypocrisy.
The 1st Jerk's "natural born" skills are demonstrated AGAIN.. Teleprompters don't tell you HOW to pronounce it..?? HAHAHAHA He is the court jester disguised as the king..
it doesnt necessarily follow that MARINE Corps would have anything to do with a NAVY corpsman. It may be a small point but still important, especially if were criticizing the president for his gaffs.
It does indicate that the POTUS does not know what he commands? Marines and their attached Corpsman (Medic in Army) are those troops that wage ground war around the world. Also, the Marine Corps can be committed to combat for extended periods of time without the consent of Congress. To most Presidents, having a mobile, always ready force, that they can commit on a dime usually gets their attention. Guess with bammy, date nights are more important than becoming familiar with the assets that serve the office. Corpseman? Come on; imagine any college graduate that cannot pronounce Peace Corps, Marine Corps, Corps of Engineers, Press Corps, ad infitum.. he is a moron who can’t speak Austrian.
Now as far as the White House Press Corps - he is dead on accurate there.
The Marine Corps has a lot to do with Navy Corpsmen.
If you look at the famous USMC monument in Washington DC, depicting the (second) flag raising on Iwo Jima, every one of those guys but one was in the Marines; the last was a Navy corpsman. They were the front line medics for the Marines.
(Actually, I don’t know if they still are?)
Excellent...
Why did you-tube yank it? It couldn’t have been copyrighted, right?
Yes, they still are. And for those who are wondering, the term ‘Corpsman’ is not derived from ‘Marine Corps’, but from ‘Hospital Corps’.
Every time Obama opens his mouth I think of the joke.
Obama is an illiterate idiot.
Do not say that, even jokingly. Obama is the best thing to happen to the country because he is not patient to institute the socialist agenda of Pelosi et al. The country is seeing what a travesty toward the Constitution and the United States this impostor is. And if someone would get rid of him now, we would have to have another national holiday for an under deserved individual and the rioting would last for months.
All corpsmen are in the Navy..........they are highly regarded and protected.(unless things have changed since the 60’s.)
uummm...the Marine Corps is a department of the Navy. A Corpsman serves IN a Marine Corps infantry unit. It has EVERYTHING to do with a Navy Corpsman. Holy Infidel batman....
