with a Hirst shifter on the floor

What kind is that? The chevelle had a racing shifter that clicked from gear to gear. I hated that thing. Hubby loved it.

Yeah, he had one of those drag racing ones. Of course, he never drag raced--or so he says.

Angry Floods

READ: Psalm 93

The floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. —Psalm 93:3

Trouble comes our way, according to Psalm 93, in relentless waves that surge and pound against our souls and break upon them with furious force. “The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice,” and they are deafening (v.3).

Yet above the tempest we hear the psalmist’s refrain: “The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, than the mighty waves of the sea” (v.4).

Indeed, “the Lord reigns”! He is clothed with majesty and strength. He sits as King, exalted higher than the waves that rise above us, deeper than their immeasurable depths, greater than their strongest surge. The storm is in His all-powerful hands: “The world is established, so that it cannot be moved,” for His rule over it was established long ago (v.1). He rules the raging of the sea; the “wind and the sea obey Him” (Mark 4:37-41). He speaks and they are still.

The storm will not last forever. Yet, while it rages, you can cling to the Lord’s promises of love and faithfulness, for His “testimonies are very sure” (Ps. 93:5). Waves of trouble and grief may sweep over you, but you will not be swept away. He “is able to keep you from stumbling” (Jude 24). Our Father in heaven is holding your hand. David H. Roper

When overwhelmed with problems,
When weak or tired or ill,
When storms are fierce and raging
Just hear His “Peace, be still.”  —Jarvis

When adversity is ready to strike us, then God is most ready to strengthen us.

Bible in One Year:   Ezekiel 33-34; 1 Peter 5

She's so adorable.

Hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving. We did. We had a wonderful trip to Chicago for a Thanksgiving feast at Sam's parents. The weather and flights were good and we arrived home last night. The dogs were glad to see us and glad to be back home. If it weren't for Sam's folks we'd never go to Chicago, no redeeming value in it (except we did bring home a suitcase full of food). It's good to be back in the South.

I wanted a GTO. Instead, I had a Dodge Dart convertible. Slant six with a push button transmission. LOL. Hey, I'm not complaining, it ran.

LOL. Just to be clear, the car was at least 10 years old when I got it! I can't remember for sure the age.

Before I could drive it my dad and I nearly dismantled it to put on new brakes shoes and pads, new belts etc., this assured him that I knew how to take care of the thing myself first. I recall it lasted about 2 years when the U joints went out and then the engine finally caught fire.

I think those are the perfect cars for new drivers. The kids aren't spoiled and they're probably gonna run into something anyway!

I never could make any sense out of those push button transmissions, though. I'd rather have three on the tree than one of those!

I recall the boys always wanted to rev the thing up and push two buttons at a time, probably why it didn't last long.

The training was all good until they came up with all the computerized stuff and started putting parts where you couldn't reach them unless you were a contortionist.
