**sniff**

No more daily Foxhole pings?

I'm gonna need more coffee in the mornings, then. Where's Darksheare and the salt?

Both of you thank you for your undying support to the troops and veterans. And for keeping them memories of those that have sacrificed for this country alive. You are both true patriots. A salute to you both!

Thanks for the kind words, KDD.

I've been told more than once I should be institutionalized. ;-) Looks like I made it.

I'd like to give a special thanks to Snippy for all the hard work she put in to this final daily thread.

I had to. You're such a slacker.

You've been the best partner and friend a man could ask for.

Awww, don't go all mushy on me now. Heck, I miss us already. I'm not going to be able to sleep.

I guess this is where I should thank you for inviting me to partner up with you in the first place. What a joy ride it's been. My buddy, my pal. You're the best.

Where's Darksheare and the salt?

You know Darksheare, his Foxhole was always a mess, good like finding anything but the empty beer cans in there.

Gonna miss the Foxhole as a daily thread.
Also going to miss dropping by.

There is a pic of me in uniform, Dolly posted it here:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1494066/posts?page=154#154

I'm the yutz with his finger in his ear.
I lost an ear plug that day during a blank shoot for the 1812 overture.
;-)

Coffee?
Sure, here goes:

In 12 cup drip percolator pot, fill to 6 cup mark with water.
In filter, put 6 heaping scoops of coffee.
Medium roast works best, just make sure it's a robust blend.
Found a maxwellhouse 'medium roast' that was rather anemic.
Put pinch of salt in filter, about as much as it would take to cover the surface of a dime with one even layer.
This keeps the coffee from tasting burned too quickly, it doesn't age well brewed this way.

Brew, recirculate if need be, usually not.
Add sugar and dairy creamer.
Creamora and coffeemate are not recommended unless you like the heart racing that Ranger Pudding gives.
That, and the nondairy creamer will give you both a headache and a buzz with the coffee.

I usually put about 8 spoons of sugar in this stuff, it ends up being like Russian Kava, thick and sweet with that bitter overtone to it.

Oh, and I am NOT responsible for seeming demonic possession of the coffeepot, or the coffeepot ending up acting as if it has been damaged.

Be sure NOT to add creamora or coffeemate to the brew, unless you LIKE ranger pudding style heart racing.
When I brew that stuff for myself, I recirculate the stuff to brew a second time, but that's me for my own personal enjoyment, and it may wreck the coffeepot.
Don't forget the salt, it's important to the finished brew.

Be sure you don't use non-dairy creamer.

Heading off to bed for now.
See everyone in the morning.
Pleasant evening.

May your travels be full of wonder, and your days be prosperous and bright.

It's been a GREAT presentation and along with everyone else, I'm gonna miss the daily root beer youse guys served up to the Foxhole, and the history lessons you provided.

Best wishes to y'all and our Lord's Blessings to you. 'Tis a great service you provided.

Salute! ....two

BTW, isn't that Multnomah Falls in the background? We stopped there and hiked up to the bridge a couple years ago. Beautiful!

SAM, Snippy,

Your accomplishment, this Foxhole, has been a great blessing to me. I become mean spirited from disappointment, so many disappointments over the years, about how Viet Nam was lost, about Clinton, of all of God's creation, being elected President, twice. How about all of us looking into the very jaws of slavery, of Hell, as the truly evil guys seem to so steadily win. Right now.

So, anyway, I have looked forward to reading all the thread every day, and if I miss one, two in one day. All of you have been a great help. As the say in the Naval Service, "I sh** you not."

And special thanks to U S Army EOD. A dang lot of years ago Navy EOD saved my hide, and it was terribly unlikely I even came to know that it happened. I suspect this happened more than once.

Those VC people loved that stuff. Like the al Queda does in Iraq.

You will say, "Couldn't have been me, I'm Army." Each GI is sui generis, of course, absolutely unique. But at the same time each GI is just a guy trying to do his duty, uniformed, under orders, just like every GI. In that same way I owe every EOD guy something. My salute, Sir.

Still can handle one more war. This time I will need plenty of naps. Still ready.

Wow...
It's been that long. Time sure flies when everyone's having so much fun.

It's been a pleasure to have spent the time in the foxhole. I've learned a lot over the days, and my only regret is that I haven't been around much this past year and not being able to grace these threads with AIR POWER

*sniff* I'm gonna miss you guys!!!!!!!!!!!

Aw, you guys, I'm going to miss your threads. They have entertained and educated me; the first thing I looked for in the morning when I turn on the computer. I've bookmarked so many in my "History" & "Confederate History" files, they look like Free Republic files instead, and I've used many of your articles for our historical programs at U.D.C. meetings. You helped me so much to find information on my father's service -- more than I could from the Veteran's Administration (their files had burned), and even led me to find a relative buried at Camp Chase, Ohio. Three generations of genealogists didn't know he had taken his step-father's name during The War. It was wonderful sharing the flags in our church with you. It brought pride to my heart and tears to my eyes to see them so beautifully displayed, then to be able to share the experience with like minded friends made it even more wonderful.

Thanks, guys. You did a great job educating people about the value and valor of our troops through history. I have a feeling I'm going to be hitting the archived threads once a day, just to keep up.

Thanks, for all you do.
