Good news indeed!
Darn! So close!
ROFL!
This could get interesting... : )
There were also stories of a highly placed mole in the German High Command, his identity has never been revealed.
Great read! It's just amazing the amount of tanks, artillery and soldiers concentrated for one battle. I did a cursory search for any other battles since 1943 that rivaled Kursk and only the Arab-Israeli conflicts accumulative through the 60s and 70s were mentioned.
But Kursk began the erosion of German morale of the whole Wehrmacht from top to bottom.
I only read through post#100 . . . did anyone mention the other Kursk disaster?
(CNN.com) On Saturday, August 12, 2000, the giant Russian nuclear submarine Kursk -- carrying a crew of 118 -- sank in the icy waters of the Barents Sea after what Russian officials described as a "catastrophe that developed at lightning speed." More than a week later divers opened the rear hatch of the sub but found no survivors. Our in-depth special examines the submarine, the disaster and the aftermath.
Evening w_over_w.
You're the first one to mention the sub. :-)
I believe that the Battle of Chinese Farm during the Yom Kippur War is now considered the largest tank battle,
I'm wondering if I should hold my breath.
No, you'll turn blue!
Too Late.
Blowhard would be closer to the truth.
LOL!!!
If you think you can do better. Try East Front II by Talonsoft.
On October 15, a division led by Ariel Sharon managed to breach the line between the Second and the Third Egyptian armies and to create a bridgehead; on the night of October 16/17, an Israeli bridge was deployed across the Suez Canal. The divisions of Avraham Eden (Bern) and Sharon passed over this bridge into Africa advancing to within 101 kilometers of Cairo.
They wreaked havoc on the lines of supply of the Third Army stretching to the south of them, cutting off and encircling the Third Army. With the Third Army's situation being hopeless, only the intervention from the USSR and the United States saved it from imminent destruction.

I had East Front. Also had SSI's Objective: Kursk. Liked that one.
We should have let the Israelis roll into Cairo.
Alas, those kind of games are few and far between. Everything today is graphics and first person shoot em ups.
(if memory serves) The Soviets told Nixon that they would NOT allow it, and if we didn't stop the Israeli it was war. Weather they were bluffing or not, who knows, but Nixon believed them (whatever is faults were and they were many, he was VERY good at the game of geo-politics). The end result of this war was Camp David, the Soviets kicked out of Egypt, and America becomeing Israels main supplier of arms.
