"Warsaw" September 1939
Polish 7TP (twin turret) light tank of Captain F. Michalowski's training company breaks out from the street barricade to counter-attack German reconnaissance elements.

I thought WWII proved for good that appeasement doesn't work, but here we are with the Democrats, EU and Kofi Annan spewing the same old garbage.

Some people never learn

Lack of a radio was a major weakness in Soviet tanks early in the war.

Snippy and I could only stand about 5 minutes of Kerry's "speech". I almost puked at his "Two tours" comment.

Snippy and I still have to sit down and watch "With Fire and Sword". We promise we will. We appreciate you getting the subtitles, it was hard watching the first movie about the Uprising and not having a clue to what was being said.

I thought Kerry's speech was so bad that I laughed through the whole thing and when Fox cut away I went to CNN, where they breathlessly said they'd show the whole thing. I don't think they realized they weren't doing their cause any good!

Edwards was also fun to watch - he looked like he could see his entire political career swirling around the bowl right before his eyes.

Whaddya mean you objected to the two tours comment? Haven't you heard about that doughty little frigate, the Gridley, taking on and sinking that North Vietnamese battleship? With the Captain and Exec wounded, Kerry commanded a charge, boarded the battleship and defeated its Captain in single combat? He then set off charges on the battleship, when he took shrapnel in the butt. It's all in his secret diary. He let me look at it if I would give him a happy hat.

"German armored success was due to tactics, not equipment."

You are right. I think that the best tank of WW2 was Russian T-34 - this tank had quite good armor and firepower, however the most important was that it was simply construction, easy to produce, so they produced tens of thousands of them.

On the whole, I'd have to agree. Especially with regard to the later models that were equipped with the high-velocity 76mm or 85mm guns.

LOL! Two tours my ass! IIRC, The USS Gridley spent 5 weeks off the coast of Vietnam and his "In-country" tour was 4 months one of which was training.

It wasn't only the Polish who doled out their armor in small groups as support. The french and Brits did it too a year later in 1940 and the Russians 2 years later in 1941.

Poland wasn't the walkover that was reported in German accounts of the War.
