Afternoon Darksheare.
Afternoon aomagrat.
I could never get used to the secondary armament in those sponsons. Just looks too weird.
Afternoon Victoria. I see the rat demonstraters are already starting trouble, Could be an interesting convention.
Afternoon Light Speed.
From what I 've heard you're better off renting a Stryker.
Some people have nothing better to do than causing trouble. Come to think of it, isn't Kerry doing the same thing?
Hi Snippy. :-)
Evening.
Been wandering about.
Howdy, PE!
I double-dog dare ya. :^)
In 2000, I walked thru the same area. No way, no how, would I do that at night, or perhaps again. The Navy Yard was very cool however.
ROFLMAO!!!!
Greetings and salutations to you as well.
Having walked on the Mekong River, using surface tension and wide, flat sandals called "flipflops" by the natives, Shambo rested in the shade of the Tree of the Knowledge of Horsepower and Horsecrap, shading himself from the harsh moonshine Christmas Eve 1968, a day which will live in the Annals of Fake Warriors, a tall tale among tall tales, created by one of the few, the losers, the Hollow Men.
But Shambo knew the C'mere, Rouge would be along directly, checking i.d., separating the G.I. from his Hershey bars, so, silently, he shouldered his twin-.50 cal. aircooled, belt-fed killing machine he'd nicknamed "Scaramouche", and headed back toward his base to turn in his third Purple Heart request--he'd been wounded again: the wicked "flipflop thong blister" had caught him between the large and second toes. This malady was legend in these parts, the fearsome "two-step" as the victim could not take two steps without feeling the searing, searing pain. . . .
Shambo knew he had an appointment with Destiny: Destiny Binh, Communist spy waiting for him in Paris. Treason was dangerous, dirty work--but who was better equipped than he, Shambo, who lived the traitor code:
Oh my gosh, this is hilarious!
ROFLOL. I've got tears on my cheeks!
2 Omaha class light cruisers were up in the Aleutians with the new cans of Desron 49.
USS Richmond ran the longest....she was part of the task group which saw USS Saltlake City's [Swayback Maru] famous gun duel with Japans crusiers.
Most of the new cans suffered damage from the heavy seas..yet the old plucky riveted Omaha's kept chuggin along.
neither fell out ....3 times Desron 49's cans went from Dutch Harbor thru heavy weather to attack the Naval airbases at Paramashiru ...on a map..this is a long trip.
Navy rolled in some big crusiers for some of the opps.
Japan had a crusier squadron for the north sector.
they never came out to fight.
the only near loss I think up that way..was USS Abner Read....who was lucky to survive a mine incident.
Abner Read was lost in Nov/44 off the Island of Leyte...a Val dropped a bomb down her stack,,then it suicided her.
Abner Read lost 22 men...remarkable..considering the internal explosions and the topside damage.
USS Richmond CL-9
Kerry isn't starting trouble, he's in trouble thanks to the Swifties. :-)
side note....up on her forward section....just aft of the gun mount..is a bank of Mark 38 Torpedo tubes.
Guess USS Barry accidently discharged a torpedo into the deck house of the USS Decatuer(DD 936) moored alongside in Newport, Rhode Island in 1963 : )
Hi Samwise.
Oh No!! A double-dog dare!! Only if Snipppy drives the getaway car.
he'd been wounded again: the wicked "flipflop thong blister" had caught him between the large and second toes.
ROTFL with Snippy, who is trying to read over my shoulder. I bow to the Master, I am not worthy. :-)
Thanks for the Walk around links.
