I second RobFromGa's favorable comments on the Ambrose book and the D-Day museum in New Orleans. Higgins boats were still in use in Viet Nam. The Army operated Higgins-built FS and Y-Tanker types, in addition to harbor patrol boats (Q-boats) and LCM-6 and LCM-8 types.

I keep thinking about going to DC to see it, but I'm not sure I could handle it. When the moving wall came here it really got to me.
