Doing no harm is the ancient tradition of Western civilization, stretching from ancient Greece to the present Judeo/Christian world.
Doing Good requires a “problem” needing a remedy. Doing No Harm has no such trigger.
Revolutions always crash and burn, if modeled after the French Revolution, anyhow. The people suffer, and the leaders of the revolution install themselves as all-powerful despots. The American Revolution was different, because it applied the concept of Doing No Harm. The American Revolution also contained a mind-set typified by Edmund Burke’s conservatism. The current Revolution promulgated by the president and the Demo/nihilists is the French variety, not the Burke variety. The mind-set accompanying the French type revolution is one that uses the Doing Good concept. Doing Good is fraught with snares and pitfalls. Doing No Harm is straightforward and secure. Doing Good often requires passing laws (i.e., the use of force, and diminishment of freedom). Doing Good often presumes phony “rights.” To read the whole piece: continue...

An American version might be: sh*t happens.
