Mark Sanford has proven that he can be distracted on a whim from the importance of the office entrusted to him by leaving the country without notifying his staff, for starters. At the moment I’m not particularly optimistic that his marriage will survive. And if it doesn’t, no way is he a viable candidate for 2012.

And not that I agree with him or them for that, particularly. Palin may be imperfect but seems to be able tonmake the best out of the bad for acts not directly under her control. But Sanford proved that he's willing to throw a public trust out the window if he can gain some momentary gratification from it.
