America has already fought N. Korea, and basically ended up with a standoff. What hapens when China and Rusia come in on the side of the N. Koreans. If it was only N. Korea I suppose we might beat them fairly, but I doubt it would stay that way.

N. Korea is sure to send the technology for this bomb to their friends in Iran, perhaps even Venezuela or Syria.

America is not the world and we are not responsible for the world. Where is Europe? No, we dont need to attack N. Korea and give China an excuse to attack Taiwan.

I dont know the answer but attacking N. Korea isnt it.

"Today, America, Japan, and South Korea need to attack the demented, recluse, hyper-bellicose state of North Korea."

There is really no possibility of this happening.

America's President simply hasn't the stomach to do this.

But perhaps Japan and North Korea do have the stomachs for it , and as soon as possible .

"No, we dont need to attack N. Korea and give China an excuse to attack Taiwan."

The ChiComs don't need an excuse to attack Taiwan. They'll do it when they feel circumstances are in their favor. And they don't give a damn what America or the rest of the planet thinks.

Actually we had North Korea whipped and almost expelled from the Korean peninsula until the Chinese sent in about 1.5 million troops.

This is false. The PRC supplies North Korea. They consider North Korea a strategic asset. Kim Jong Il would not have nuclear weapons if Beijing did not want him to have nuclear weapons.

It is the same relationship Pakistan maintains with Al Qaeda and the Taliban. Or Iran with Hizbullah and Hamas.

You can believe the popular fiction spread by the fools in the press that these rogue states and entities act alone or you can believe your own eyes. It is, in some sense, a personal choice.

Actually, I think a sudden attack by South Korea, Japan, and America would succeed, and without intervention by the Chinese and Russians. I don't think they'd dare. Not if we made the moral righteousness of our intentions clear. But it is up to the South Koreans and Japan to show some principle and backbone first.

This is close.

The proper response would be for Japan and possibly South Korea or even the ROC to nuke up. Neither the Chinese or the Russians want this to happen.

If this were to happen, the Kim Family Regime would be defanged directly.

Had we taken care of Russia when Patton wanted to and the Chinese when MacArthur wanted to, we’d not have some of the military/political problems we have today.

I think you don't know the answer for the same reason that no one knows the answer - there isn't an answer.

The fact of the matter is, even without nukes, the PRNK could kill hundreds of thousands in Seoul in just a few hours using artillery and conventional missiles - and many more if they went chemical.

I just don't think there's any good answer, other than stopping and boarding every ship that comes out of a NK harbor and searching it for nuclear material, a kind of de facto naval blockade, which of course as everyone knows is an act of war in and of itself.

Short of that, I think it's a foregone conclusion that the PRNK will continue to build nuclear weapons and will eventually export them as weapons are their only cash crop.

Ah....it was China, and N.Korea. And we were only fighting to a standoff.

I think the answer could be found in Japan announcing (with our blessing) that in 90 days they will begin to create a nuclear triad of 1000 warheads and a purchase of American ICBMs. The possibility of not proceeding could then be floated, IF North Korea were to end its nuclear bomb program and have a real change of leadership.

I think the Chinese would be sitting in Pyongyang before the 90 days were up.
