Today's G-20 economic summit conference in London is virtually guarenteed to be a ghastly pro-Big Government orgy -- a veritable Lolapalooza for Leviathan. Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan -- not to mention John Locke and Adam Smith -- are going to be spinning in their graves.

Nothing is more certain than that this tour de force of politico-economic stupidity and depravity is going to come out four-square against true free enterprize, capitalism, and laissez-faire. Sadly and almost incomprehensibly, the great conclusion of today's deepest thinkers (sic) is that the "Anglo-Saxon" version of political and economic liberty has proven to be definitively false and unworkable.

Hence the conference is going to unanimously, enthusiastically come out in favor of a whole slew of new and powerful business and finance regulations to "improve" upon freedom of commerce and laissez-faire capitalism. These new controls and dictates will supposedly help alleviate the "deficiencies," and lessen the "excesses," of overmuch political and economic freedom. It seems that too much liberty is now a "problem" we all must deal with.

But when you "regulate" liberty in this fashion, you repudiate, contradict, and partially destroy a free state and its consequent free market. Regulation, properly understood, is nothing less than a form of slavery!

Too bad virtually no-one sees the tyranny of government control of business for what it really is. To "regulate" a given individual, company, industry, or society is to tell them they must do something they don't want to do, or they mustn't do something they do want to do. Now this is slavery!

Despite the nightmare of the 1930s New Deal, the 1960s Great Society, and the Lost Generation of 1990s Japan, it's clear that the G-20 summit will conclude that capitalism and economic freedom need to be "guided," "improved," and "saved," yet again! Much more statism, socialism, fascism, and command-and-control Big Government are going to be leading us in the future. Evidently we're all going to be helped and rescued during the current Recession by our pal Big Brother!
