Who will Ron Paul pick for his VP? (vanity)
1/22/08 | me

Posted on 01/22/2008 2:07:21 AM PST by GovernmentIsTheProblem

Most of the other candidates are out of money.

Soon it will be only Romney, McCain, and Paul.

The time is coming for them to pick their VP picks. I am willing to bet the first might happen before Super Tuesday in an attempt to get a bump.

The buzz I have heard is around the following potential picks

Mark Sanford, Gary Johnson, Judge Andrew Napolitano, John Stossel

Of them all, I think that Judge Napolitano would be the best pick, from a pure ticket perspective.

I know his foreign policy isn't popular on FR and this post will likely attract a lot of noise from a handful of people dedicated to shouting the Doctor down.

However - he is a Republican candidate, he has the funds to go until the RNC, and it will be time to announce his VP pick soon. Before anyone suggests it, it's not going to be Kucinich. ;)

So think about this - he is the only candidate left in the race (assuming Fred drops out later today, which he likely is doing), Paul is the only candidate left that is anti-amnesty, pro-2nd amendment, anti-abortion, and for limiting the size and scope of government.

Like I said - I'm hoping it's the Doctor and the Judge.

Anyone else hearing any noise?

I note you ignore Paul's cut-n-run remarks.

It's not "cut-and-run" when we've been in the Middle East for six years now and most of the objectives have been met. How much longer do you want to stay there?

Funny, Paul called for a Letter of Marque and Reprisal against that scumbag.

Why would he support Paul?

Paul wants him dead.

Just because we kick a countries ass and hang it’s leader doesn’t mean we have to hang out for 100 years. Frankly I’d rather let them figure out how NOT to piss us off again, rather then teach it to them over and over at our cost in blood and treasure. In todays wars the spoils go to the losers. Unlike our current government, Ron Paul doesn’t fear OBL and his henchmen and he knows we can destroy any two bit dictator in 7-9 months.

That guy is still living.....why wouldn’t he want another GB ‘Republican’ or Clinton Democrat in office.

What about Tom Coburn? Ideologically he’s just about perfect, and he is a Senator, but I’m not sure how many new votes he’d bring to the table other beyond Oklahoma. There’s also a doctor we just elected to Congress in Georgia whose name I forgot, but I don’t know that two House members (one of whom has only been in the house for a year) are a very powerful ticket.

The explanation is very simple... he believes that our troops should be brought back to the United States without delay - a belief that I, and apparently the majority of my fellow Americans hold too.

Yeah, lots of folks think that.

Dr. Paul Broun is the Representative’s name who I’d forgotten. And he’s actually only been a Congressman about six months - he was elected in a special election last summer to replace Charlie Norwood, who passed away. Probably not the best choice for VP today, but he could be another Ron Paul in ten years.

What about JC Watts? Would he add value to the ticket?

Paint dries faster than JC Watts speaks.

"Why would he support Paul?"

Al Qaeda leaders are survivalists. They are cleverly in tune to US national politics.

Any candidate who wished to diminish US Defensive capabilities such as those famously announced by Ron Paul would be the candidate of choice of our enemies.

If I were threatened with a "Letter of Marque", I would be laughing my ass off.

They must love Bush. He left the borders wide open.

” If I were threatened with a “Letter of Marque”, I would be laughing my ass off.”

You laugh at a tool ensconced in the Constitution? Which other parts do you think are a laugh riot? Just so we’re clear.

"That guy is still living.....why wouldn’t he want another GB ‘Republican’ or Clinton Democrat in office."

Because Ron Paul wants the US military to shrink to just one submarine. I guess you will tell me that he didn't say that either?

As far as a democRAT in the WH, that too would be the jihadist's dream.

GW is saving your ass, whether you like it or not.

Is it a Paulrhoid trait to fall back to Bush Derangement Syndrome each time Ron Paul positions are exposed for the steaming BS that is Ron Paul?

Bush is not running for President moron!!!

No - it’s pointing out how Paul’s plan is better than the current status quo, supported by the leading Republican candidates.

McCain, Mitt, Huck - all have open-borders records.

How can you fight them there but leave the gates open?

It’s madness.

“Bush is not running for President moron!!!”

Sweetness and light, as usual, lormand. ;) You have Paul Derangement Syndrome. ;)

Where did I say he was running?

He’s president NOW.

He said our enemies should know that we can take them out with one of our subs. Whilst your trying to change the line of thought here I’ll remind you that bottom line OBL and that pinhead are still living. They have survived two presidencies now, continued to attack us through out, since Mogadishu through to Iraq on a scale so large that it is beyond their wildest goat laden wetdreams.

"Not when he says this crap:"

Ron Paul's recognition of false motives is not the same as being an al-quaida apologist.

And not at all a cut-and-run "coward".

And recognizing deeply-flawed legislation for what it is (deeply flawed) should be a pre-requisite for the office of POTUS.

James Stockdale?

Yes, he was a real hero but now he's just as dead as Paul's campaign.
