The Spread of an Idea
USA Daily ^ | November 12, 2007 | Murray Sabrin

My wife and I attended the Ron Paul Independence Mall rally on Saturday. Although the weather was less than ideal for an outdoor rally that began in the early afternoon, the crowd’s enthusiasm made up for the cool, overcast conditions. Paulites from as far as New Hampshire were in attendance.

Before the rally, Rep. Paul spoke to at least 200 members of the Philadelphia meetup group and then held a briefing for about 100 donors who contributed at least $500 per person. Although Dr. Paul had been up since 5:00am to catch his flight from New Hampshire, he was alert, energetic and on message.

At the rally, New Jersey Assemblyman Mike Doherty introduced and endorsed Ron in a more than 10 minute presentation. Doherty, a former army captain and West Point graduate whose three sons are serving in the military, two of whom have endorsed Ron Paul, is bucking the current Giuliani boomlet in the Garden State.

--snip--

Because Ron is a statesman and not an egomaniacal politician he has taken the high road in his campaign. Carol Paul told the meetup crowd that Ron always discusses ideas in his presentations and never mentions his opponents by name. He criticizes their policies and philosophies and does not attack them personally. This is an invaluable lesson for his growing and sometimes frustrated supporters on the Internet keep the discourse civil and courteous.

The spread of the ideas of liberty is taking off like no other time in our history since the American Revolution. Ron Paul is the Thomas Paine and the Thomas Jefferson of our generation. Ron’s “common sense,” eloquent defense of liberty, and boundless energy is remarkable for a husband of 50 years, father of five, grandfather of 18, and great-grandfather of one.

Well, to be fair, I don’t think Paul wants to elect Hillary. It’s this supporters (or, 95% of them) that want to elect Hillary.

From what I have read and heard about Rod Paul, he wants to surrender the world to the enemies of the American people. If that is to advance liberty then I must have read the wrong words from al-Qaeda.

Are you another one of those Freepers who would vote for Hillary instead of Ron Paul in a head-to-head contest?

Ron Paul as a 3rd party candidate would insure Shrillary’s defeat. From what I’ve seen, Paul has got more supporters coming from the left-wing kooks than from the GOP.

No.

Are you one of those Paul supporters that would support a 3rd party run?

No need to worry about that scenario. Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton have a better chance of being the Republican nominee than Ron Paul.

Ron and the Paulites have succeeded in removing a pretty good sum of money from the pockets of quite a few of the, shall we say, "reality challenged" folks.

That is one strange dude. A Ron Paul warning should have been appended to the headline.

He’s not going to run third party, as he has said, so your question is meaningless.

If he did, though, I’d still vote Republican.

Same odds as Ron Paul running third party.

The money that's been sent to him has brought serious issues to the forefront of the GOP debate that we had long thought forgotten - individual rights, personal responsibility, fiscal conservatism, etc.

Imagine tricking left-wing-kooks into voting GOP for a Constitutionalist, instead of tricking right-wing-kooks into voting for socialist RINOs!

Wouldn't that be great?

Google is Ron Paul’s largest campaign contributor. It is because Google loves liberty so much. They even put little helmets on their logo...THIS YEAR. Yessirree! Google treasures freedom.

Just ask any Chinese Internet user who is currently in prison for something they said online.

“Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton have a better chance of being the Republican nominee than Ron Paul.”

According to the intrade.com betting site, Ron Paul today is third in the GOP nomination race with a 7.5% chance of winning the Republican nomination. He stands far behind Giuliani and Romney, but slightly ahead of McCain, Huckabee, and Thompson. So if you are completely confident that there is no chance whatsoever of Paul winning the nomination, intrade.com offers you an opportunity to cash in on your knowledge. Personally I think the quoted odds, 12 to 1 against, are about right, and I don’t plan to bet against Paul. Rudy Giuliani’s odds of 42.7%, or less than 3 to 2 against, seem to me a bit too high, considering the Bernie Kerik mess.

Its unfortunate Paul talks so treacherously against America on that one singlular issue. He’s an alright guy on other issues. But what he says on Iraq is absolutely treacherous, and a total deal breaker.

Why can’t he just say, “yes I voted against the war originally,” and leave it at that?

The America First Committee was an isolationist movement before WW2, 2 days after Pearl Harbor they disbandoned in a dignified way. I’m kind of an isolationist myself, but Paul is an absolute lunatic. It is unfortunate, for him.
