Ron Paul Mass Donation Event November 5th

On November 5th we will see an interesting test of whether Ron Paul's internet buzz translates into real world events. It is said to be something that just sprung up online, without any help from the Paul campaign, who are certainly not complaining. They want to raise $10,000,000 in one day by getting 100,000 people to donate $100 each to Ron Paul on that day. Are internet spammers representing a few fringe kooks going to come along and spam his campaign with millions of dollars?

Many of us have been on the internet since the 1990's, but think about how different the internet is in this election cycle compared to the 2004 election primaries, let alone the 2000 election primaries. Almost nobody had broadband back then, no youtube, far fewer people in general, very different demographic. Come to think of it, back then on the internet more people could spell demographic, knew cowboys rein in horses, and knew government didn't reign in some place called spending.

How many people were on Free Republic during the late 1990's, talking about potential nominees? And how many today? We'll get a good idea just how internet buzz translates into cash for TV ads on November 5th.

Hillary could raise 10 million with one phone call to her best friend Hu Jintao of China.

I’m more interested in the new power of the internet. Ten million dollars is a lot of money, but not all that far fetched, if Ron Paul really has millions of internet supporters. We’ll see in a few days.

I think it is somewhere about 15,000 people or so who have signed the pledge. x 100 that is 1.5 million dollars. Boston tea party 2007!

“The only man ever to enter Parliament with honorable intentions” huh? Must be a lot of anarchists in America. Ron Paul’s campaign got almost $4 million yesterday, topping Mitt Romney’s highest day so far of $3.1 million. Not bad for a kook who only represents a few fringe wackos, wouldn’t you say?
