Ron Paul won big earlier today in Alabama. He also won big in New Hampshire this afternoon.

Dr. Paul received 208 votes (73%) for a landslide victory against Mitt Romney today at the Strafford County, New Hampshire straw poll. Romney received 26 votes. Mike Huckabee came in third with 20 votes.

Tancredo (8 votes), McCain (7 votes), Cox (5 votes), Hunter (5 votes), Thompson (5 votes), Giuliani (3 votes) and Brownback (1 vote) finished the field.

As noted earlier, Ron Paul received 216 votes for a commanding first-place finish in a straw poll today sponsored by the West Alabama Republican Assembly. Mitt Romney came in second with 14 votes.

The poll was open to Alabama residents.

I must point out again the irony that Dr.Pauls supporters can’t take a joke, yet they support one for President.

Award for best post, and welcome to FR.

Where is his Senate seat? Surely he would have wanted that at some point.

Well Ronald Paul did run for the Senate seat from Texas in 1984 and got his butt whipped by Phil Gramm. Then he tried a run at the Presidency in 1988 as the LP candidate, lost again. He can’t win statewide or on the national level. He’s strictly a CD level at best.

An acceptable idea, but the alternative would be what? ...hold hands and all get along.

Not all all. Withdraw from the Middle East and let them stew in their own juices.

Speaking of grass, I have a lawn to mow...

I do mine on Fridays. That way I can wallow with True Believers on Sunday afternoons :). Oh, no, sorry.

And get our oil from where exactly....

I don’t think even with the best effort we can get the gulf and the northern fields up fast enough.

And that’s besides the fact it is not approved.

Not to mention crazies will win and build missiles and look at us with envious and hate filed eyes...

I am not willing to risk my family or economy on the will of a bunch of idiots...

“Withdraw from the Middle East and let them stew in their own juices.”

That stew has long spilled its poisonous juices onto our plate.

Ron Paul is a fool, we don’t want him.

I’ll regret this later so I’ll bit.

Trust me, you shouldn't have "bit".

My guy is Fred, he is a strong believer in Federalism. I am sure he will try and examine ways to reduce certain sections of the government.

Really? Name one Government Program that Fred has said he will cut, if that's really what you said. I'm not quite sure and I don't think you are either.

I do know he is not prone to crack pot ideas that lead to trying to jerk hard to the right when the country is not ready for it. That would not happen anyways, because radical changes scares the straight, and you come off looking like some crazy goon.

OK, that must be that "New" "Faux" conservative thing you've got going. I think I'm catching on now. Some of you guy's must've got together for a beer and fishfry before you came here tonight. The incoherent babble abounds!

Doesn't get you very far. Reality has to met this crap somewhere.

Sayyyy what?

philman_36, they're really cranking tonight, LOL! Blackbird.

“This whole story is a farce:”

The Paul website took the satire and ran with it. They didn’t even know the difference. And then his supporters ran with the false story of the false story and posted it all over.

Too funny for words!!

Let's see.......210+ votes divided by approximately 900K registered Republican voters(estimated) x 100 = .029% of Republican voters.

A real juggernaut there.

You Paulistas can’t make a cogent arguement so you call names like children. I find it humerous that barely anyone(at least anyone I know) in the Texas 14th is supporting Dr.Paul. Were he the second coming of Reagan (as some here would have you believe) you would think his home district would support him. Instead he has the support of the Daily Kos, DU, 9/11 truth.com and last but not least Stormfront. Great company y’all keep, sheesh!

Let's see now, didn't we follow the "let'em stew in their own juices" strategy after the Soviets withdrew from Afghanistan? That really worked out well for us, didn't it?

Maybe that was a policy that worked when it took 30 days to cross the Atlantic, and your average muzzie wouldn't ride on a train or steamship because he felt they were Satan's contraptions, but it is fool's policy today. Patton said that a bad offense is infinitely better than the best defense. I agree. Ron Paul's way of fighting the WOT would be to all but set up the Caliphate for the Islamonazis and hand them the means to strike us again and to weaken Israel, Jordan, and every other ally we have in the Mid East. I'd vote for the Hildabeast before I would this kook.

Only those who worship at the altar of Ron Paul would call 208 votes a landslide.

(Looks at other candidates) I don’t see any of them worried.

Whats really sad is there is still another 6 months for Paulistas to spam good boards like this until they are crushed in the primaries.

Oh goody I have another Phil, who grades typos and such before the meat of the subject...

Oh and Phil is coming, better get off my Treo and crank up the PC...

If I have to explain why radical political change scares the masses, the "straight" or "straights", then that's not you.

As far as Fred, I have read his works and understand a lot of his thoughts about various things. No he does not have a platform out, not time for it yet, however even some of the fair tax folks like what he has to say about the tax code and system and he wants to act on that. His general approach is federalist and that is good by me. I think the states should get back in the game, don't you?

I would explain more but as I read through True Believers info I understand why this feels so much like discussing particle physics with a brick wall...
