“WALLACE: Would you like to overturn Roe. ...
THOMPSON: You said lightning round, now. If you want ...”
In other words he was waffling, didn’t say a categorical “YES”.
Your candidate is pro-abortion. You should be proud of that without spreading calculated deception.
WALLACE: As we said, perhaps the main reason that people are talking about you is this uneasy feeling among conservatives that there is not one of their own, a true conservative, in the field.
So let's do a lightning round — quick questions, quick answers, a variety of issues — to see where Fred Thompson stands.
THOMPSON: Um hmm.
WALLACE: Abortion.
THOMPSON: Pro-life.
WALLACE: Would you like to overturn Roe. ...
THOMPSON: You said lightning round, now. If you want ...
WALLACE: Well, let's go.
THOMPSON: ... more, give me another question. I'll work through it.
WALLACE: Do you want to overturn Roe vs. Wade?
THOMPSON: I think Roe vs. Wade was bad law and bad medical science. And the way to address that is through good judges. I don't think the court ought to wake up one day and make new social policy for the country. It's contrary to what it's been the past 200 years.
We have a process in this country to do that. Judges shouldn't be doing that. That's what happened in that case. I think it was wrong.
In other words he was waffling, didnt say a categorical YES.
Libertarians and Thompson believe Roe v. Wade was bad law. It's not law, it's judcial fiat. The court was performing an illegal legistative act and camoflaging it in legal goobley gook. Pnenumbras anyone? Give me a break.
Thompson is against the corruption of the law. If the American people want to make abortion legal...then they should do so in a straight forward democratic way.

That doesn’t mean a thing. What was his voting record? It’s a bit funny when supporters of the most liberal Republican in the field attack another Republican’s conservative credentials.
And before anyone goes off on me, I just want to amke it clear that I haven’t decided who I’m voting for, though I’m leaning toward Romney, Thompson, or (if he’s in) Gingrich.
