Pro-Life Candidate for Specter's Seat?
Taxpayers for Clymer ^

Posted on 07/09/2004 7:36:56 AM PDT by pa4life

I was deeply saddened by Toomey's heartbreakingly close loss to Arlen "Yay Abortion!" Specter. If you still want to send a message to Specter and the RINOs, consider voting for Jim Clymer, the Constitution Party candidate, who is 100% pro-life, pro-gun, and anti-tax.

He needs help getting on the ballot, though-26,000 signatures before early August. If you would like to help him, please email me at epeemon@hotmail.com or visit his website and sign up.

Don't worry about throwing the election to Hoeffel-the latest polling I've seen has Specter up by 20 points because he's convinced so many Democrats he's one of them.

If I lived in Pennsylvania I'd vote for him. I wish him all the best.

I know several people who are thinking of voting for Hoeffel, to try to keep Specter out of office. If Clymer had more name recognition, I think they could be persuaded to vote for him.

Arlen is doing a tremendous job trying to get himself reelected. My wife and I both have received letters asking for money from him and when you read what he's written, it's almost enough to make you send him a few dollars. Arlen's got Steve Freind, yup, that Steve Freind - the sponsor of the PA Control Act - out stumping for him.

Thanks for the alert. OK but if it's close, I'm voting for Hoeffel. It's the only way to abort RINOs. I'm sure Specter will understand that happens when you are not wanted.

I know that some people refuse to vote for liberal Republicans, and I often find myself wishing that RINO's would lose in the general election. But the fact remains, I would rather have Arlen Specter in the Senate and hold onto the majorities in various committees, especially in the judiciary committee. And I know that makes a lot of people nervous because Specter is in line to be the chairman of the judiciary committee; however, I guarantee that more of Bush's picks will go through if Specter is the chairman than would have gone through if Pat Leahy ran the show. I supported Toomey in the primary but he lost. We can try to knock off Specter in 6 years if he doesn't retire, but until then, he should have our support. Even though he may be a liberal, he casts a very important vote when he chooses Bill Frist to be the majority leader over Tom Daschle. And that alone, is worth us voting for him. It's alright to oppose during the primary, but we should support in the general. That's my opinion anyway.

And I thought this was the Liberty Caucus, a place for SANE republicans who repsect individual liberties, including the right to have an abortion. Apparently not. This is the main reason why I will probably vote for a democrat for congress as a protest (since no libertarians are running in my state). Or I won't vote at all.

Just curious...

You do realize that every vote for Clymer does nothing to get a "Pro-Life" candidate elected.

It does, however, help us to get one more Senator who will vote against national security and put even more American lives at risk.

Sometimes we have to accept that there are other issues and vote for someone we don't agree with to prevent getting someone we have even more disagreements with.

I'm entirely willing to be a hypocrite on this matter.

I want all the true liberals to vote their conscience and vote for Nader.

But anyone who doesn't want a liberal Senate (or at least Senator) needs to hold their nose and vote for Specter.

At last dmc8576, your's is the first comment in this thread to make sense. My God, what are these people thinking? Winning and keeping the majority is the name of the game.

There are RINOs out there who, so long as they keep their party's nomination, need to be supported so we can hold the majority. The majority is the only way to get things accomplished.

I realize how old this thread is, but it's too hot to go outside, and I was just running thru old stuff.

At this time now, July 2006, the GOP and the president are getting just what they paid for. They wanted Specter. They got him.

I'd be willing to say "they got what they deserved", except that the rest of us got him too.
