Those priests should be ashamed that they released that letter to the press before Dolan (or even Bishop Gregory) saw it. Same thing in Boston - "the Boston Priest's Forum" union? association? group? seem to have more respect for the media than they do their bishop. I guess they figure if the media/public know about an issue before the bishop does, it will give them leverage - because you know the media/public does not agree with Church doctrine or discipline. Looks like it's a pressure tactic or a bunch of men who don't have the cajones to ask for a meeting with their bishop to discuss a concern which as Dolan said, had been discussed to death for 40 years.
Doesn't it remind you of kids when they are in trouble? The kid says "but everyone else is doing it!" and flails around looking desperately for another kid, his eyes light up when he sees one and he says to the other kid "right?!? Isn't everyone else doing it?!? Tell Dad that everyone else is doing it!?!"
