Sometimes I am strongly tempted to think that what we need now is men with strong natural parenting skills:

Another psycological test? ;-) Lord! Spare us!

How about what we need now are men of great faith, great trust in God, honesty, integrity and bravery in the face of a culture that is fallen.

These priests and bishops didn't pop out of a vacuum, I would guess that most of them had fathers and grandfathers and uncles, family friends and blood brothers who are good and faithful fathers to their children. It seems that it is a loss of faith or a fear of fully living His word. It's hard to take a firm stand on the side of natural Law, God's Law. Just look at us! If we all embraced our faith and His Word, the culture would be in a different place than it is now.

Sometimes I think that the bishops reflect us.

***Sometimes I think that the bishops reflect us.***

I think you have it right here. What is needed today is not a refutation of the bad arguments of the dissenters, but a change of heart. I believe we can all do our part by following the Blessed Mother's wishes as expressed to the children at Fatima. She advised prayer and fasting. Prayer and fasting on our part will drive out the demons of dissent and fill the Church once more with great hope and optimism. As hard as it may be, we should all pray for our Bishops - even Mahoney (who probably needs prayer more than anyone else)!

LOL!!

"Sometimes I think that the bishops reflect us."

I think there is a lot of truth in this, but I also know many good priests who are prepared to stand up for the faith and what is right. These always seem to be the ones who will never get promoted to the episcopate.

It is the limp-wristed gas-bags who just want to get along with everybody (except traditionalists) who generally get promoted over the heads of men with faith. I sometimes wonder if this is a deliberate ploy by HQ to keep the episcopate weak. Wouldn't want any shining star to obscure the limelight from falling on HH etc.
